Well, dear readers, we finally had a little action yesterday, going up several hundred dollars and to 73%, but we really need to move it on up today and tomorrow if we want to reach our goal in the final week. It was really unfortunate timing with the holiday, where we basically lost four days, but we’ll just keep forging ahead and praying we not only make it but cover our fees and perhaps go beyond. I did put up a lot of new perks yesterday – a bunch more out-of-print CDs, some fun original art, all kinds of things at all kinds of price levels. And don’t forget, if you fall in love with something and it’s just too much, price-wise, simply PM me and we can see what we can do. One dear reader did that very thing last week and I think said dear reader was very happy with the result. So, shortly we’ll begin our final week – I still think we’re at nine days left, but I’ll double check that this morning. Meanwhile, here’s the ubiquitous handy-dandy linkilicious link.
I did manage to watch a motion picture last night, entitled We Need to Talk About Kevin, starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. The director was the same director who did a horrid little movie I talked about a week ago, entitled You Were Never Really Here, a film advertised as a psychological thriller that lacked psychology and thrills, but was jam-packed with pretention and arty. I don’t know why I expected different, but the Kevin movie was just more of that, and it was also advertised as a psychological thriller and yet had no psychology or thrills. I don’t really “get” Tilda Swinton, so that was a downside. It’s an evil child movie and then the child grows into an evil teen – kind of prescient in that way, as he commits a mass murder. But the timelines are fractured throughout so that you’re never really sure where you are or when, and I found it annoying. Yes, it’s disturbing, but annoying wins the day.
Yesterday was okay, I suppose. It took quite a bit of cheerleading for the action to kick in, but once it did then it was pretty steady throughout the day and evening. Interestingly, the first person to grab a perk yesterday, was one of the producers of The Partridge Family – he took my first memoir, so he’ll get to read all about himself. Some CDs went, a ten-CD perk went, and that kind of stuff. Still hoping some of the bigger ticket items go, as that’s what really moves us along. I drove over to the local Panda Express and got that for food. I came right home and ate it all up and it was pretty okay for what it is.
Then I spent time in the garage gathering up some stuff for the perks, then watched the movie, then uploaded all the perks, which, as always, takes a really long time. And now, here I sit, like so much fish, listening to a very rare CD entitled Tone Poems of Color, music conducted by Mr. Frank Sinatra – original pieces for orchestra by Elmer Bernstein, Victor Young, Andre Previn, Nelson, Riddle, Billy May, and others. Coincidentally, there’s a copy available in the campaign – you might want to grab it. There’s also the TV soundtrack to The Adventures of Superman, which is very pricey these days, but priced nicely in the campaign. If you grew up with the George Reeves series and missed getting this CD, which I issued on Varese Sarabande, you might want to grab it.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven, hopefully I’ll awaken to some good Indiegogo action, I’ll cheerlead, and then I have a noon-thirty lunch with Kay Cole. After that, I’ll stop by the mail place to see if anything’s there, and then come back home and do some writing on the web series – I’ll try to finish the second episode, although I’m not sure what the actual order of the series will be at this point – do more cheerleading, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is more of the same, much cheerleading as we go into our final week, when it will probably get relentless, and I think I have a dinner thing to go to on Saturday evening.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, hope we have some good Indiegogo action, cheerlead, have a lunch, stop by the mail place, write, cheerlead, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy we got to 73% as we approach our final week.
