AND IN THE END, 150%!

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much zonked out fish from too little sleep all week, which has now caught up with me but good. I’m listening to music for the first time in a while – Miklos Rozsa’s late-in-life but stunning score to Providence. It’s really beautiful. Before I go on, however, and I shall go on, believe you me, my hope was that we’d close out our Indiegogo campaign with 150%, not that I was in any way disappointed being three percent off. But yesterday morning I got an e-mail from someone who’d missed the end of the campaign and had wanted the Gloria Swanson painting. So, we made the deal and did it via PayPal and guess what – that brought us up to 150% exactly. So, we got our wish and isn’t that loverly. Otherwise, I must say I slept through a lot of the evening whilst trying to watch one of those four-part documentary things on the Flix of Net about D.B. Cooper. It’s one of those conspiracy people faux investigator things who think they can uncover what no one else has. They harass people that turn out not to be the infamous Dan Cooper, who hijacked an airplane, demanded $200,000, then parachuted from the plane and was never heard from again and, for reasons unknown, became a folk hero because, as these people keep saying, he stuck it to the man. I don’t know – a guy gets on a plane, threatens to blow it up, demands money, is given money, escapes – that’s not my kind of folk hero, I’m afraid. It’s very repetitious and so while I slept through half of it, I think I got the gist which is, unfortunately, that everyone has theories and no one knows anything for sure. I also watched a motion picture entitled Frank and Lola starring Michael Shannon and Amanda Poots, a kind of pointless, meandering something or other, that’s never quite anything at all. They’re certainly fine in it, but even at eighty-eight minutes it doesn’t hold one’s attention.

Yesterday, I only got about four hours of sleep, even though I was in bed and asleep by twelve-thirty. But I was up two hours later and just couldn’t fall back asleep until around six-thirty for two hours. It really wrecked me. I was up again at eight-thirty, then she of the Evil Eye arrived and I went and had an omelet and a tiny side Caesar salad at Hugo’s. It was fine but I just wasn’t feeling up to snuff due to not getting more than five hours of sleep at any point last week. I went to the mail place but there was nothing there, then I went to the nearby mall and killed time until I came home around eleven-thirty. Then I futzed and finessed episode three and sent it off. I Zoomed with David Wechter and we made the small adjustments to our screenplay – it was very simple and only took about ten minutes. Then I began my viewing, which was constantly interrupted by my dozing off. In the early evening, I got Panda Express for food, and it was fine. And that was pretty much it.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll start writing episode four and some way overdue liner notes, I’ll have a celebratory meal with Robert Yacko at three, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Then this week is VERY busy. I’ll start organizing the perks list, we’ll get a LOT of CDs shipped out, thank goodness, I’ll continue writing episodes, we’ll begin making tracks for the songs (there’s one song per episode), and I’ll probably have a work session for the Kritzerland show, to get that out of the way, and I know there’ll be some meetings and meals. But I’ll be sleeping at least eight hours a day until I’m feeling better and back to my usually perky perkilicious self. Hoping the Indiegogo funds will be released sooner than later and, of course, they’re holding five percent of it for two or three weeks, which is always irritating, but nice to know it will be coming. I will say, it was very nice not to have to put up more perks or cheerlead.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, write a new episode and some liner notes, have a celebratory meal, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that we did, in the end, reach 150%.
