WITH A TAP OF THE SPACE BAR

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I’ve been sending out e-mails for the past hour, losing track of time. I’m not listening to music, although I could be with a tap of the space bar. It’s amazing how many things you can do with just a tap of the space bar. For example, with a tap of the space bar I can make a space. Anyway, I just opened the music app, tapped the space bar, and what do you know, I’m listening to Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel Act Two, Scene Two vocal music, conducted by some upstart named Leopold Stokowski. All that with just the tap of a space bar. And I’m on episode five of a German limited series entitled Kleo, a kind of spy/revenge thing – nothing we haven’t seen before and yet a lot of quirky fun and a great performance by its leading lady, Jella Haase, who could play sisters with Elizabeth Moss. She’s really terrific and it all moves along quite nicely, although I suspect it will be another case of five or six episodes being better than eight, but we shall see about that.

Yesterday was an interesting day. I was up by eleven after nine hours of very good sleep. Once up, I answered e-mails and did whatever needed doing, then I shaved and showered, after which I moseyed on over to Tarzana to have a lunch with our line producer and a PR person. It was some Mexican jernt, Sol y Luna, and I’d researched it and it seemed traditional, not the new faux Mexican stuff I don’t care for. We got right in. The PR lady opened with a question for me – where did I go to high school. I said Hamilton and she said she was there and graduated in my class. I didn’t know her, but we really must file that either under “Small World, Isn’t It?” or “It’s a Small World.” She was very sweet, she’s been doing this for a very long time, and has one big client – Henry Winkler. But she’s done a lot of TV shows, so knows that world. We had a nice conversation and she’ll present a proposal. Not sure if the budget will allow or not but we’ll know soon enough. Hoping it works out. I had a beef taco and cheese enchilada and a little guacamole, which they make tableside. It was all merely okay and certainly didn’t come close to Casa Vega, which is still my Valley favorite.

After lunch, I came right home, had a long telephonic conversation, answered more e-mails, got a pass from one of our asks – I didn’t really know the person, and that’s always a long shot. The folks I know and have worked with usually say yes if they’re available. At least, so far they have. I did a few things on the computer, then began watching the Kleo limited series. At about eight, I figured I’d only had about six or seven hundred calories, so I ordered a Chinese chicken salad from Stanley’s – it’s pretty light, so that was a good evening repast. Then it was back to the limited series, then sending a lot of e-mails again – also, announcing the Kritzerland anniversary show. Here’s the flyer for that.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat something light and airy, I’ll probably finish the limited series (unless I do a marathon and finish before going to bed) and organize the perk stuff. Then I’m going to try really hard to get to bed early as she of the Evil Eye will be coming to clean. I also have to get her some 409 and Windex today.

Tomorrow, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out of the house by nine. I’ll have the usual light breakfast somewhere, and then I’ll do stuff until it’s time to return. Then it will be perks organizing and a bit of a ME day. Sunday will be more of the same, and then on Monday we’ll start shipping the CD perks, then move on to the other stuff. We’ll be casting more stuff for the web series, I’ll announce two new CD releases at some point, and then do whatever else needs doing.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora and the Minuet, for today is the birthday of our very own dear reader Jrand. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader Jrand. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN DEAR READER JRAND!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat something light and airy, probably finish the limited series, organize, and then try to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, nothing. Blu-ray, nothing. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy in the knowledge that one can do so much with a the tap of the space bar.
