ON THE THIRD DAY OF SHOOTING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, our third day of shooting is done and we completed all the apartment scenes, which were varied and many as well as many and varied. It all went as scheduled and my only slight disappointment was that one prop was not what I asked for. It was fine and we got the job done with what we did have, but I do wish it had been what I had in mind. Apparently, no one had what I had in mind, which, when you know what it was, will astonish you. Everyone is doing a fine job – the actors, the crew – and that does help move things along. I’d only gotten four hours of sleep, which was NOT good, due to horrifyingly horrible heartburn from the pepperoni pizza slice and no Pepcid to help relieve it. In fact, I asked for some Pepcid to be picked up so it would be there when I arrived. Once I’d had two of those everything was better, except for the fact that I really needed more sleep. Here’s hoping tonight will be better, sleep-wise. We wrapped on time, but our jack-of-all-trades called a nearby store who said they had the prop I wanted – so, we waited while he went there. Well, they didn’t have it.

I came right back to where I’m staying, stopped at the place next door and got a little pasta and mac-and-cheese from their hot food bar. It was fine. I’d had lunch from some jernt called Tender Greens or Sweet Greens or whatever it was called – something called a hot honey bowl – chicken, honey sauce, rice, sweet potatoes. It was pretty okay. I turned on the space heater and heated space in the bedroom whilst I channel surfed – I think I fell asleep for an hour or so, listening to some music channel.

The good news, notes-wise, is that they did post on time, so that’s all figured out. But I simply can’t see shutting down the topic comments early, but we’ll see.

Today, I’ll I get to sleep an additional hour. I’ll be up at eight, shave and shower, and then I’ll walk to today’s location, which is only ten blocks from here. While the room is being set up for our big physical comedy scene, Sami and Allie Trimm we’ll rehearse their duet. I’m just gonna do some point and click staging, simple stuff. The hope is to begin shooting the big scene at noon and we really have no idea if that’s going to take two hours or five hours, but I do think the five hours will be enough time to get everything we need.

Tomorrow we’ll be at a green screen studio to do a little faux commercial with Sami – it plays an important part in episode one and is a recurring thing throughout. That should go quickly, hopefully. Then we shoot the duet and then Charles Busch comes in and we shoot a little thing he does in episode ten. For each of those, the setting will be keyed in and should look really good, at least that’s the hope. We should be done by two, I think. And the thing that was scheduled afterwards, the recording studio, got moved to Saturday after we wrap out initial location. So, it will actually be a short day and we’ll grab a nice early dinner and I think our crew will appreciate the light day. Friday we’re in a club and there’s a lot to do there, but if everyone’s prepared I think it will go fine. Saturday we’re in a rehearsal studio until five and then we go directly to the recording studio and should wrap out of there around eight. Sunday we’re back in the rehearsal studio. And Monday, we’re in a different club and with that day, we wrap our New York shoot. And then we’ll be on our way home come Tuesday.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Texas Two-Step, for today is the birthday of our very own dear reader John G. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader Joh G. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN DEAR READER JOHN G!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up at eight, shave and shower, walk over to the location, rehearse, then shoot a big physical comedy scene. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, looking forward to all our new locations.
