IT’S A WRAP FOR NYC AND HOMEWARD BOUND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, despite only four hours of sleep, we got through our last day of shooting in NYC. I was hugely concerned about the amount of time we had to shoot a good deal of material, including two songs. All along, I’d been told we were in at 9:30, we’d begin shooting at 10:30, had to have a thirty-minute break, and then were a hard out at 3:30. I found out at two o’clock that the club had nothing scheduled so we didn’t have a hard out. Had I had that information, I would have been a lot nicer to be around. I had a very specific plan about the first part of the day, but my cameraman kept trying to get me to do other things first and I admit I got a little snippy with him, but in the end, we compromised and it worked out fine. It took two hours to do the first part of the shoot, but we got it done and my ideas about how to shoot those scenes worked out well so we were able to really fly through them. Then it was a thirty-minute lunch break. After that, we began shooting the first of the two songs. It took a little time to get the energy and vibe right for the song but we got there after a few takes. We began with the full-length shot and then did a closer waist-high shot. Then Sami changed wardrobe and we began the second song. She didn’t know that one as well, so it took a few tries but we got it and wrapped at 3:45.

It was raining pretty good, but it was only a six-block walk back to home base. Once settled in, I plopped down on the bed and immediately fell asleep for an hour. Then I got ready for our celebratory meal and cabbed it to Serafina, an Eyetalian jernt on Broadway. It was very good, and we all had a fun and relaxing time – there were just five of us. Then I cabbed it back to home base. Thankfully, the heater finally turned on because the temperature had dipped below fifty, so it was nice and toasty in both rooms. I’ll probably shut off the bedroom version, as the noise will keep me up. I caught up on a few things and then it was time to write these here notes so I can be in bed by eleven at the latest. I’ll schedule the notes but that hasn’t been working for days now, so either they won’t post or I’ll have to do it as soon as I arise.

Today, I’ll be up by ten or thereabouts, I’ll shower, and then at around 12:30, Karen Staitman will pick me up and we’ll be on our way to the airport, after which we’ll be on our way back to the Burbank Airport. Once back in the home environment, I’ll probably take the motor car for a spin and then begin the humungous amount of catching up on answering e-mails and returning calls. And then I need about four days of really good sleep.

Tomorrow, I’ll go to the mail place and hopefully pick up the two important envelopes, after which I’ll do some banking. And then it’s catching up, forwarding all the orders that have come in, checking on the three very errant and truant releases, getting the footage to Marshall Harvey, planning the LA shoot, and doing whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten or thereabouts, shower, pack, and then be on my way to the airport and then on my way home. Today’s topic of discussion: What was the first Eyetalian food you remember eating? What are your favorite Eyetalian things to make yourself, and where have you had your favorite Eyetalian meals? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have wrapped shooting in NYC and equally happy that I shall be on my way home. Please do send your strongest most excellent vibes and xylophone for a safe, on-time flight home.
