OUT OF SORTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to Stanley Myers’ marvelously marvelous score to No Way to Treat a Lady, whilst still feeling out of sorts. I want my sorts back. I hate when I’m out of them. I don’t think I’m sick and I’m fighting like the dickens not to be – but my tummy is troubled, and I’m just zonked from lack of sleep, which is what I think this really all stems from. To that end, I plopped myself down in bed at six pm last night and immediately fell asleep and slept three hours – got up for a minute, then went back to bed and got another hour, but that was sporadic. My intention is to go right to bed after posting these here notes. I did watch more of this new Netflix thing, Dahmer, about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The question is always the same: How are these monsters, and yes, they are monsters, created? This is another Ryan Murphy thing, and he spends time showing Dahmer’s childhood and is probably blaming that, but I don’t think that can be all of it. The actors are fine, the score is ridiculous (same pair that did the ridiculous score to Marilyn), and it’s certainly not a lark at ten long episodes. I will never understand this ten-episode thing where they pad shows out like this – so much repetition. Our web series is ten episodes, but those episodes are all twelve minutes long. I suppose I’ll stick with it.

Yesterday was and is a blur (rulb, spelled backwards). I have no idea how much actual sleep I got but it can’t be over five hours and I doubt it was that much. Once up, I had a telephonic conversation with Richard Allen and we did fixes to the new charts he’s doing. He then got me piano tracks and the fixed music for two of the three songs, one of which is for Cindy Williams, and I sent that to her. Then I did some work on the computer but couldn’t really focus. I had my little pepperoni pizza for food and some leftover cheesecake, both fine. Then I watched some of Dahmer, then did the bed thing, and here we are, approaching the midnight hour.

Today, I’ll hopefully be up after a good night’s sleep. Then I have a lot to deal with – we’re trying to lock down locations and shoot times and all that. I’m sure I’ll eat something (need to go to the market for Diet Coke), and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes, which means I have to be up early and go have an early breakfast somewhere. Once I’m back, I may try for a little more sleep. I need to not do too much on the weekend. Sami’s coming into town tomorrow and she’ll need rest for our shoot. So, Sunday is a pure, unadulterated ME day. If something can be unadulterated, can it also be unachilderated? Just asking. Then next week is all gearing up for the following week’s three-day shoot, most of which takes place at a house in Encino, with the other locations being a green-screen studio, a recording studio, and a club. We also have to shoot all the Face Time calls and that’s about twenty pages in all, between Kerry O’Malley’s and Cindy’s. I think those will shoot the following week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, hopefully be up after a good night’s sleep, deal with whatever needs dealing with, including locations and shoot times, eat, market, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What is in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, a multi-CD set of Harper’s Bizarre that dear reader elmore kindly gave me, and a box set of French music conducted by Hans Rosbaud. Blu-ray, nothing. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping I find my sorts very soon so I’ll no longer be out of sorts.
