Well, dear readers, part two of the lovely miracle happened late last night – it wasn’t quite as lovely as I was hoping for, but lovely is lovely and I was very happy to see it happen so fast. The other good news that happened yesterday was that for the first time in ages, I got a great night’s sleep (about nine hours) with zero tummy issues. What a treat that was and I’d like a few more, please. Because someone mentioned the Dimitri Mitropoulos box set the other day, I’m now giving it a second listen and it’s so excellent – he was just a wonderful and these days much underappreciated conductor. And his musical taste in terms of repertoire is all over the place, which is what I like in conductors. I’m still on the very early stuff and I must say it sounds pretty amazing for stuff that old. I watched no motion pictures – well, I did start something but fell asleep and I can’t even remember what it was. Oh, yes, I’d begun a movie the night before, another Swedish movie from Sweden entitled Britt-Marie Was Here, based on a book by Fredrik Backman, the author who wrote My Name is Ove. It’s a very sweet movie with a wonderful performance by Pernilla August, and excellent performances from the rest of the cast, including a slew of young people. Like Ove, in the wrong hands this film could have been very cloying and annoying, but the director keeps the tone just right and it’s just a lovely, simple film and easy to like. Therefore, I can highly recommend it, too, and it, like Ove, is on Amazon Prime for free. I almost watched this new Brad Pitt thing called Bullet Train – only $5.99 to stream, but happily, I read the reviews and it sounds truly terrible. So, that bullet dodged.
Yesterday was a fine day in most ways. I got the aforementioned nine hours of sleep with no tummy issues at all, got up, did the thing that enabled part two of the lovely miracle to happen – I was told it could take up to three days, but it happened in less than ten hours. We finally got all the details worked out to record Cindy’s song and then shoot it at a downtown location. And there is a chance that if she’s not too tired after that, we could conceivably come back here and shoot her phone calls. It would be great to get those done and out of the way and I think she’d like it, too.
I made a batch of Wacky Noodles – not the best batch, taste-wise, don’t know quite why that happens, but the were fine nonetheless and lessthenone. That was it for food. And I’ve begun cutting down the Diet Coke intake and started trying to drink a bottle of water a day – not easy, as I don’t like water all that much. Then I answered a lot of e-mails, had several telephonic conversations, and caught up on stuff. I have one more cast member to set for the Kritzerland show in December, so I’ll try to get that done then choose songs. And that was pretty much it for the day and evening. Many thanks for sending those patented vibes and xylophones.
Speaking of vibes and xylophones, I have to raise a few more dollars for Kritzerland. I’m going to have to purchase a very expensive piece of equipment that will, in the end, save us money and enable us to do a bunch more projects. So, obviously I’m not doing another Indiegogo campaign anytime soon (the last one almost killed me), but I thought it might be fun to just list some fun items, the kind everyone likes, here on our discussion board. I can make prices a bit less as there aren’t any Indiegogo fees to deal with. Books, signed stuff, memorabilia, one-of-a-kind items, CDs – all that jazz. What do you think? I might even list a few things today, just to see what you think. Payments can be made via PayPal or Zelle, too. Zelle works well as that goes directly into the Kritzerland bank account. And it’s super easy – all you need is the e-mail address to send. No fees, that’s the best part.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll take care of several things I need to take care of, I’ll begin getting things ready for this Elmer Bernstein concert, I’ll choose songs for the December Kritzerland show, and then I have a dinner meeting to deliver Indiegogo items to one of our biggest donors. That will be my only meal o’ the day and I’ll make the most of it, believe you me and me you believe. Then I’ll come home and watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is more of that and then on Friday we’ll record Cindy’s song, then drive downtown and shoot it. I suspect each of those things will take around two hours and then if she’s up to the phone calls, that would only take about an hour. Plus we’d use my phone to shoot and so she wouldn’t have to worry about getting me the footage or doing it wrong or anything. The weekend may or may not include a rehearsal for the Bernstein concert – if not the weekend then definitely next week.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, organize stuff for the Bernstein concert, choose songs, have a dinner meeting, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What books have you read that you think would make terrific movies that haven’t been tapped yet? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had part two of the lovely miracle happen so quickly.
