Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news for you: At exactly two this morning it will be one this morning. Yes, you heard it here dear readers, Daylight Savings Time is done for about three months. I do enjoy gaining an hour and from what I’ve been told, an hour enjoys gaining a me. So, let’s all adjust our clocks and systems. I did manage to watch three things on Netflix whilst managing to do almost nothing else, which is what I wanted. The first thing I watched on Netflix was a documentary entitled Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste. It’s the kind of story that makes my blood boiled and so for all of its ninety minutes I had boiled blood. It’s about a woman who began a group about orgasms in females and it’s just so absurd watching people fall for her malarkey and then watching it turn into a cultish thing. It’s still around, despite bad press and some legal issues. Like EST and those other things of old that I watched friends do and could not believe that they’d fall for it, what is one to make of men and women basically doing stuff to each other in front of everyone. And looking all beatific about it and prattling on about it. Many of the folks in the documentary are not happy they did it, while there are others who are happy they did it, all under the guise of “wellness.” Orgasmic Meditation this woman calls it. A group of fifteen people tried to stop the documentary from airing – they failed, of course because their allegations were not based on actually seeing the film. They thought there “might” be nudity (there isn’t). I mean, honestly. Anyway, boiling blood aside, it was certainly interesting to watch people talk themselves into believing and spending tons of dollars to do it. Then I watched a three-episode docuthing entitled Killer Sally, about Sally McNeil, a former Marine and body builder who shot her body-builder husband and spent two decades in prison (she was released two years ago). First of all, I have to tell you that the sight of these crazy body builders with bodies so unnatural and outlandish makes me want to vomit on the ground. I guess some are into that kind of thing, all genders, but it’s just not something I need to see. That said, I am now becoming a body builder and I began by eating some peanuts. Anyway, it was an episode too long but I enjoyed it for what it was. Then I watched a Dutch movie from Dutch – I mean, the Netherlands – the Netherlands whose country song is the well-known Nether Nether Land. The film was bafflingly entitled The Takeover (there’s no takeover), but it was mildly entertaining, if you like throwbacks to the techno-computer thrillers of the 1990s. I like those, and the film was mercifully short, under ninety minutes. It gets very silly at the end, but I enjoyed the actors save for the horrible English actor who plays the villain. Since he’s done a lot of Dutch films, I presume he lives there. It’s directed competently and looks good. The worst of it is the thumping, drum-based score.
Yesterday was what it was. I was up at eight-thirty and out the door before nine. I stopped at the ATM and did the ATM thing, then I moseyed on over to Art’s Deli, where I had a bacon and cheese omelet that was only fair, and a toasted sesame bagel with it. I didn’t even finish the omelet, which was a first. Then I went to the mail place and picked up the first screener we’ve gotten – Thirteen Lives, some movie directed by Ron Howard. It doesn’t sound that interesting, but I’ll give it a look-see at some point. Oh, and as I was driving to Art’s I passed Jerry’s Deli. I was right several nights ago – it was lit up and there were people in there. Sadly, it’s not Jerry’s – it’s turning into some kind of dessert jernt, which is weird to me. I’m trying to find out more about it.
Then I went to Gelson’s, got some lox slices and bagels and cream cheese for food, more soda pops, and some tuna for this coming week. I came home just as she of the Evil Eye was leaving. I caught up on e-mails, and am happy to report that the helper is really shipping out this stuff fast.
I then futzed and finessed the concert commentary, printed it out, so that’s all done and ready. I looked at the video of the concert from three years ago and was dismayed to see I did the entire opening patter by heart. Don’t know if that will happen this time, although I’ll try, I guess. I know I can do at least half of it by heart. In between movies, I had two lox and bagel sandwiches, and they were really good. Otherwise, just a fruity fruit bar and that was it for food.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven, which used to be twelve. I’ll relax and rest my voice, then shave and shower, after which I’ll mosey on over to Robert Yacko’s abode and he’ll drive us to the home where the concert takes place. We’ll run some stuff, I’ll give any notes I have to, and then we’re doin’ it. Robert and I will beat a hasty retreat afterwards. I will, of course, have a full report for you.
This week is all Kritzerland show stuff and finishing shipping the CDs and perks. I believe editing will begin tomorrow or Tuesday or sometime this week, so that’s very exciting.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, relax and rest my voice, shave and shower, mosey on over to Robert Yacko’s, run some stuff, and then do the concert. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be gaining an hour.
