Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the first of three symphonies by Erwin Schulhoff, a composer I’m fond of. Haven’t heard these since originally uploading them and so I am rectifying that, oh, yes, I am rectifying that. I did watch the first ten minutes of some new movie called Bones and All, but if a movie bores me to tears in the first ten or fifteen minutes, as this did, then I see no reason to stick with it. And so, I shut it off and I don’t care who knows it. Then I couldn’t find anything else that seemed interesting to me. I could watch The Glass Onion via a digital streamer, but it would have to be on the computer, and I just don’t like watching that way. Otherwise, I’ve just been puttering around, thinking about which book to write (I’ve pretty much made up my mind, but it makes me nervous, which is probably a good thing, in a way), and then deciding on which music to enjoy. But of course, the big event of the day was seeing the first cut of episode three of the new web series entitled Sami. The beauty part about Marshall’s first cuts is that they’re so strong and good that I really only have a handful of minor things – the swapping out of a shot here and there – that kind of thing. Episode three was no different – it played beautifully from start to finish and the little minor stuff took less than an hour to do. The piano/vocal in that episode will go to engineer John Adams to be mixed and then we’ll lay the mixed track back on the video. And I gave Marshall a list of ideas of live action bits to pull for the main titles, which are being designed by Hartley Powers. Cindy Williams makes me laugh every time she opens her mouth as Grandma and episode three has the first appearance of Grandpa, a character who never actually appears – always off camera. So, that was the best part of the day.
Yesterday was certainly a day, namely a Friday. I got almost eight hours of sleep, got up, had a few telephonic conversations, then got ready and moseyed on over to the abode of Marshall Harvey to view episode three. You know all about that. After we were done, I drove to the mail place, where I picked up a couple of packages (there was a third – some more Sambucol – but they hadn’t logged it in and I didn’t remember it was coming until I got home, so I’ll get that today) – annoyingly, the Vitello’s check was NOT there, which causes all kinds of problems I don’t need – I wrote them but have had no response. I told them if it hadn’t been sent to prepare it and I’d come pick it up today or tomorrow. But I really needed it to come yesterday and it’s never not come within a week of the show – this was the first time it didn’t show up five or six days after the show.
From there, I went to Gelson’s and bought a little top sirloin steak and one muffin top and got some salad for my greens. I came home and broiled the steak, and it was really good – hadn’t made a steak in over a year. Then I had the salad, using Olive Garden’s bottled Eyetalian dressing. I really shouldn’t have put onions in it, but I did and so am hoping it doesn’t cause me grief later. I had the muffin top and then I was stuffed to the gills and sat on my couch like so much fish. In my quest to find something to watch, I dozed off a couple of times.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll choose more songs, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages and a Vitello’s check, I’ll eat something, but mostly I want to watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is a belated birthday lunch with dear reader Jeanne, which I’m looking forward to. After that, I’ll just relax. Then this coming week will hopefully produce some major miracles or there will be hell toupee. Mostly, I have to now prepare our final three or four end of year releases and get those announced.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, choose songs, hopefully pick up packages and a Vitello’s check, eat, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What have been your favorite theater experiences of 2022? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have seen episode three.
