THE LATENESS OF THE HOUR

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, oh dear, oh dear, it is almost the midnight hour, the witching hour, and I am just beginning these here notes so oh dear, oh dear they will be posting late and I hate when that happens, don’t you? I had a long telephonic call about this and that as well as that and this and that is the reason for the lateness of the hour, the midnight hour, the witching hours. But which witch? The sandwich? The Wichita Lineman? He’s still on the line, you know, and he doesn’t care who knows it. Witchiepoo? So many possibilities, so little time because these here notes are late and I damn well better get crackin’ or there will be hell toupee. So, I’m not listening to any music at the moment, I did not watch any motion pictures last night, I did not sit on my couch like so much fish last night, and my fingers are so tired from all the damn typing and my eyeballs are blurry from all the damn finessing. Otherwise, I enjoyed the play very much.

Yesterday was a weird day. The alarm rang and alarmed me at eleven, but I’d only gotten six hours of sleep and I knew that wasn’t enough so I went back to sleep and slept until 1:45, so that was a nice amount of sleep that effectively killed the entire day and the entire day was none too happy about being killed and who can blame the entire day? Certainly not I. Once up, I answered e-mails, had some telephonic calls, ordered food from Jack in the Box just because I knew it would be quick and easy, then I went back to the book. I had about sixty pages to go and got about forty of them done before having to have a Zoom meeting. It was a necessary meeting about important things, but I was irritated almost the entire time because it took ninety minutes and I was determined to finish the finessing of the book. So, after the Zoom, I went right back to the book and finessed until I finish. I don’t get much enjoyment out of finessing a book, but I felt the necessity to do this one final pass, although now I’m going to just double check and see that I didn’t remove anything other than the stuff I added and wasn’t that happy with, unless I removed something and made it better, that’s fine, of course. And that left no time for anything other than finally taking a hot shower and relaxing. Then I had the long telephonic call and suddenly I realized that the lateness of the hour was late and the midnight hour was almost upon us, the witching hour when all the witches come out and are bewitched, bothered, and bewildered, not necessarily in that order.

Today, I’ll try to be up by eleven, then I’ll do a quick perusal of the book side by side with the copy that had my changes, just to make sure I didn’t remove anything that I shouldn’t have. I’m hoping Marshall Harvey delivers me the hard drive so I can watch the ten episodes, take notes, and then we can do the minor finessing sooner than later. The last two green screens have been delivered, John Adams has one of the last two songs that need to be mixed, and I’m just waiting on two scoring cues to put in episode ten. I really need to go to the mail place to see if anything is there, I’ll eat, then I need to do a little bit of writing on the project with David Wechter – we’re making a handful of small adjustments – and then if the drive is here I’ll be watching and taking notes on the ten episodes, and then I can perhaps watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will depend on today, so I’m not sure what will be what, and then I need to have a meeting over the weekend, probably a lunch meeting. What else will be on the agenda for the weekend I know not. And I know not what next week will bring other than next week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, try to be up by eleven, do a quick perusal through the book to make sure I haven’t removed anything I shouldn’t have, I’ll hope to get the hard drive and if so I’ll watch the ten Sami episodes and take whatever small notes I may have, I’ll do a little writing, I’ll get to the mail place, I’ll eat, and then I can perhaps watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Which streaming services do you partake of, and which have you given up and why? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as we get these here notes posted due to the lateness of the hour.
