THE COUGH WHISPERER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, my throat is almost completely better but I don’t know how long that will last because now I’m coughing every ten seconds, a real hacking cough because there’s that allergy tickle in the throat. I’m hoping this will be gone by tomorrow. I did do a CVS run and got some Ny-Quil, which does help coughs. I got more Claritin-D so that I don’t run out and the real question is do I want to take another twelve-hour Mucinex? I’m halfway through the Claritin-D from earlier so I think it would be safe, but then I’d take Ny-Quil, too. My word, these are ROUSING notes, aren’t they? They’ve got me all aquiver, oh yes, they’ve got me all aquiver, to which I say – One Grecian Urn. I’ve spent most of the afternoon and evening uploading Sami to Amazon because Karen’s Internet is so slow it takes two to three hours per episode. I first uploaded episode four but did it wrong, but that one took almost ninety minutes. So, before doing episode five I called Spectrum and asked why I’m paying for high-speed Internet with such slow upload speeds. Turns out that I’m on the lowest tier for high-speed Internet, so I had them move me to the middle tier, which more than doubled the download and upload speeds. Then I put in episode five and that only took fifty minutes, so definitely speedier. And that’s all I’ve been doing since four o’clock. No movie watching, no music, although I may find something to play shortly, and just a quick CVS run, as mentioned.

Yesterday was yesterday. I got almost eight hours of sleep – was up for two hours around four. Once up, I could tell that I was a mass of phlegm and stuffiness, but that cleared up pretty quickly and then it was really just the cough and feeling logy. I do hope the cough and attendant phlegm doesn’t end up hurting my throat. I had an hour and fifteen minute Zoom with David Wechter, and when that was done I ordered some Uptown Mac and Cheese from Granville in the City of Studio. It got here very fast and was really good. It’s just mac-and-cheese and chicken and asparagus. After that, I did some work on the computer, tried to nap but the cough precluded me from doing that – really hoping the Ny-Quil helps that when I go to bed. I definitely want to finish uploading the one I’m doing now, which is episode ten, which is the longest episode at eighteen minutes, so that will probably take a bit longer, then I want to upload episode four again doing it correctly. At that point, I will have done four, five, six, and ten. Karen’s done one, two, three, and nine, so I’ll do seven and eight and that will be that. And now, it is pouring rain.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll hopefully feel a bit better, I’ll pray for a big, huge major miracle, I’ll upload episodes seven and eight and then, after we check to make sure we did everything properly, we’ll submit. Then they do whatever they do and presumably they’ll tell us we’re fine and that our launch date is fine, too. That’s the hope. I’ll send big, huge birthday wishes to the Darling Daughter, whose birthday it is today, I’ll check and see what’s what at the mail place and the mail place will check and see what’s what with me – we’re simpatico that way. I’ll eat, and then I just have to rest and get completely better, especially the irritating cough, which is irritating. At some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more resting until I’m completely fine and hopefully the rain won’t kick up even worse allergies. Saturday, I’m seeing The Secret Garden but not if this cough is persisting because I’m not going to be one of those people who coughs through an entire show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, hopefully feel a bit better, pray for a big, huge major miracle, upload episodes seven and eight, doublecheck we’ve done everything that needs doing, and then we’ll click on the submit button and hope that process goes smoothly and quickly, I’ll see what’s up at the mail place, I’ll eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping I will arise feeling a bit better.
