Well, dear readers, this month is flying by, like a gazelle with true grit. And speaking of true grit, I am almost finished watching the motion picture called True Grit – not the more recent faux True Grit, but the real one and only True Grit with John Wayne, Kim Darby, Glen Campbell, and a rather great supporting cast, including Robert Duvall, Strother Martin (hilarious), Hank Worden, and many other great character people. A fun score by Elmer Bernstein, terrific screenplay and direction and photography – it’s wildly entertaining and entertainingly wild, not necessarily in that order. And now, I am listening to the last of the Lucijan Skerjanc music I have, some lyrical pieces for cello and orchestra – very lyrical and pretty. His harp concerto was also a total winner – very haunting and the musical language is right up my proverbial alley. And now I’ve moved onto the A&M albums of Liza Minnelli. Interesting stuff, interesting orchestrations. When she’s simple and just sings the songs she’s great. When she adds to much sauce then the effect is less. Her Capitol albums are fun and I’m sure I have them somewhere, but not in Music.
Yesterday was not a bad first day of March. I got eight hours of sleep, answered e-mails, then went to the bank and cashed a check, then went to Marshall Harvey’s abode in Burbank. As we began to go through the trailer/sizzle reel thing, it began to hail outside – unbelievable really, since the sun was out. Weird and wacky times. We watched, and I was happy with it – we added one small sound effect over one shot to help it land better, so now all we’re waiting on are the cast cards in color and the two additional things I asked for in our show font. Once we have that, then that’s finished.
That took less than forty-five minutes, then I went to my nearby bank branch and made a deposit and amazingly there was no one in the bank – I got right up to the teller and was in and out in about four minutes. I stopped at Taco Bell and got food and brought it home and ate it – it was good, but now I need a few weeks before going back. After that, I did a few things on the computer, discovered that the stalker had tipped her hand on a board, so we took care of that pronto. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish and started True Grit.
Halfway through, I took a little break, went to Ralph’s and got more Diet Coke and bought some waters, as I’ve been out of waters for a week. I bought some lettuce, a green pepper, some ham chunks, and a small avocado, came home and made a little salad for my snack, with Bob’s Big Boy 1000-Island dressing. It was good. I also got stuff for Wacky Noodles. Then I came home, put everything away, and then went back to True Grit. Then it was time to write these here notes.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I should have three close captioned episodes of Sami to proof, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll make some Wacky Noodles and eat them, I’ll hope for more blurbs, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is more of the same and I haven’t found a pianist I’ll cancel the show. It’s amazing to me that not one pianist in LA is available but such are the way of things. I really don’t want to cancel but I may have no choice. We shall see. The weekend is unknown, but I don’t think I have anything planned, other than I may see a show. Then next week, I’m hoping for a major miracle because we really need one or there will be hell toupee. Craziness.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, I’ll proof three episodes of Sami for close captioning mistakes, I’ll hopefully pick up packages, I’ll make some Wacky Noodles, hope for blurbs, and then I’ll watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite western movies? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy with the trailer/sizzle reel thing.
