Well, dear readers, when push comes to shove, I always say shove rather than push, although push can be effective whereas there is no mistaking shoving and when push comes to shove I have no idea what the HELL I’m talking about but since when has THAT ever stopped me? Never, that’s when. In fact, I just shoved push after push pushed me. What gall. In any case, I am sitting here like so much fish, having had no time to watch anything due to getting home at seven-thirty and then having to proof close captions for two more episodes. Only three to go and that part is done and done is that part. I’m listening to Norman Dello Joio’s wonderful score to the documentary Air Power – just fantastic music with a stunningly beautiful main theme. Otherwise, it was a thankfully uneventful day of unevents. I was up at six for two hours for reasons unknown, then I slept until one for a total of seven hours of sleep. Then I had to shave and shower. Then I had to make arrangements for a plumber to come because the main bathroom toilet had been behaving poorly with extremely low water level and difficulty flushing, but then being all right for a day or so, but yesterday it was burbling like crazy and the shower was draining VERY slowly, so something is clearly wrong. Even the guest bathroom began having low water level, so may as well get it taken care of. Then I did a quick ATM run and made a small deposit at this branch is open until four on Saturdays. There was no one there so I was in and out quickly.
Then I went to the mail place and picked up two packages containing nothing of real importance, then I moseyed on over to the Group Rep to see Doug Haverty act in a new comedy by a prolific playwright named Phil Olson. He does seem to get his stuff produced. They’ve done several of his plays at the Group Rep, most recently in the small theater upstairs. It’s a play about online dating, four characters, with a lot of back and forth but with the characters not meeting face-to-face until the very end of the play. It was ninety minutes sans intermission, had some laughs, but could use some fine tuning so the same beats aren’t being played over and over again. A pretty full house enjoyed it and Doug did a good job.
After the play, Doug and I went to the Coral Café, where I had their good patty melt on grilled rye, a few sweet potato fries, and to start a tiny cup of chicken noodle soup because I needed the warmth. We had fun chat and I’ll be back there casting a workshop of a new play that we’ll do in later April. If that goes well, it may be done on the mainstage, which would be fun.
Then I came directly home indirectly. Once home, I had e-mails to answer and then I spent ninety minutes proofing the close captioning on episodes six and seven. After that, I did watch a tiny bit of A Few Good Men, which, believe it or not, I have never seen. It’s okay so far – Tom Cruise doing a little schmacting but hopefully that will go away. I really don’t want to finish watching on Tubi because they’re reformatted a scope film to be 16×9 and it’s just too irritating. So, I’ll probably hold off until it shows up on Prime. Someone alerted me to the fact that The First Nudie Musical is now streaming on tons of platforms – I guess Prime was exclusive for a time but now it’s on Showtime, Hulu, Apple TV, and bunches more. So, that’s fun.
Today, I’ll be up by 9:30 to wait for the arrival of the plumber, who’ll be here between ten and one and knowing how these things go it’ll be one. I’ve already ordered food for today from Daughter’s Deli – that will arrive by one. It was a good deal thanks to a 50% off coupon that saved sixteen bucks. Otherwise, it will be a ME day and I’ll just watch, listen, and relax.
This week is book stuff, a work session for the Kritzerland show, seeing a play reading, some meetings and meals and praying for some kind of major miracle. We’re all caught up on shipping except for overseas stuff because once again they are making things even more difficult with new customs forms that haven’t gotten to us yet. Really annoying. I’ll finish proofing the last of the close captions, hopefully we’ll get the episodes back from John Adams with the sound adjusted and consistent and to Amazon’s specs. Then we’ll lay that back onto the episodes in the Avid and we’ll make the full resolution HD files and then all that gets uploaded to Amazon. My intention, on my end anyway, is to start getting the word out that we’re coming soon and we’ll post the little trailer thing we have. I will, of course, give you dear readers a sneak preview of the preview.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by 9:30, wait for the plumber, eat, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where, push come to shove, I will hopefully have sweet dreams of the third kind.
