SAMI SHEET MUSIC

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the wonderful music of one Yngve Skold. His symphonies are so tuneful and attractive – I had two on CD and I’ve grabbed another from the Tube of You along with some other pieces. His music is so what I love and is so right up my proverbial alley. His music is very much of the twentieth century tonal variety I just love his music. If you want to hear a sample, just go to the Tube of You, search his name and Berceuse and listen. It’s short and extremely beautiful and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Before I get into the two motion pictures I watched earlier, I’m excited to tell you that sheet music from Sami is now available on the Samitheseries website. It’s not quite everything, as a couple of the songs only had lead sheets – I may do something about that at some point and we’ll put those up, but for now there’s quite a few up so check it out and get what tickles your fancy or other regions. Most of these have never been available before. Dear reader George was out tester last night and it worked perfectly. We’re using Venmo for this and as soon as we’re alerted about the payment, your music will be delivered to you as a PDF via e-mail. Isn’t that exciting? Here is the direct link to the page that has the sheet music order form and Venmo link. It’s ten bucks a song and you just multiply that by however many songs you’re getting.

Earlier, I watched two motion pictures I’d never seen – the first motion picture I’d never seen was entitled Haywire, directed by Steve Soderbergh, and starring some martial arts champion female as a double-crossed operative (gee, we haven’t seen THAT plot before) – her fighting skills are impressive, her acting skills are pretty much non-existent. Michael Douglas is in it as is Euan McGregor. It’s was okay. Then I watched Death Wish V: The Face of Death, just so I could say I’ve seen ‘em all. This was a bad motion picture but I do enjoy Charles Bronson and watching Michael Parks be weird is amusing. Lesley-Anne Down is around for the first third of the film. It’s ineptly directed by one Allan Goldstein, who apparently has directed nothing but flop films, including the nadir of Leslie Nielsen’s career, 2001: A Space Travesty. Anyway, I watched it and actually stayed awake for all of it.

Yesterday was a day of a few surprises – a couple of little miracles that will happen at some point soon, so that was good, and something else I can’t talk about yet, but will when I can. I got about six hours of sleep and have come to the sad realization that the bedroom iPad is probably almost completely dead. It’s been doing weird things for the past week – not taking the password, shutting itself down for no reason, not staying on an app, not shutting off at all when I try to, and when it does and I start it up again it acts like it’s never been set up before. Then I reboot it and its okay for five minutes. Yesterday morning the alarm went off and I could not turn it off, I could not shut down the iPad, it just kept beeping for about ten minutes until I finally got it off. Listen, who would have ever expected a second generation iPad from the year 2011 would last this long? The only thing I use it for is to play a couple of solitaire-type games before bed. So, that won’t be happening anymore, and I also use it for my alarm and I’ll have to figure something else out for that. It’s still not quite dead, but I suspect in the next few days it will be all over.

Once up, I answered e-mails, checked on all my usual sites, and we began getting the sheet music thing ready. I got word that Sami will indeed be attending the screening of episode one at the Big Apple Film Festival so I’m hoping some dear readers in the area will be able to attend. I’ll have date and time shortly for you. I had two beef tacos from the local Mexican jernt I like and those arrived quickly and were very good. I followed that with some cherry chip ice cream and much later some popcorn. And then I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched the motion pictures.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, someone is coming by at noon-thirty to pick up something, then I’ll do some errands and whatnot that need doing, I’ll eat something, perhaps a Subway sandwich, or perhaps I’ll make some pasta here, hopefully we’ll start getting some sheet music orders, I’ll do Sami stuff, the hardcover is still at the printer so hopefully that will get sent soon, and then at some point I’ll be able to watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow and Friday are more of the same, Saturday is a casting session, and Sunday is, I believe, Mother’s Day.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, have a visitor at noon-thirty, do errands and whatnot that need doing, eat, hope for some music orders, do Sami stuff, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that the sheet music for Sami available.
