Well, dear readers, I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date – yes, another late start to these here notes, which I must now write in a hurry because – they are late. So, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to Andre Previn conduct William Walton’s Improvisations on an Impromptu of Benjamin Britten – a wonderful piece of music. Earlier, we had our last run-through, and it went pretty well. My notes mostly had to do with energy and making sure the play gets off on the right foot rather than the left foot. After notes, we discussed attire and then we ran some stuff that I wanted to clean up, we ran the top of the play to establish the energy it needs, I added one tiny bit of musical staging that helped and that’s about all we can do with two days of blocking/staging, and two run-throughs. It’s amazingly smooth for that amount of time and each act is now running under forty-five minutes, so that’s good. I’m hoping that there’ll be a full production because I have several ideas for things that we couldn’t do in this amount of time, and I think the show could have a really clever set. I really like this cast, too – they’re so easy to work with and they’re very creative.
Yesterday was okay. I got seven hours of sleep, thanks to an incessantly ringing phone. Most of the calls were from AT&T – I’d have an e-mail from them last night about paying off an outstanding balance on my wireless bill. So, I was going to call about that but not use any links from within that e-mail – I no longer have an AT&T account for anything and I have all the cancel notices, so I was suspicious. The phone calls made me even more suspicious, so I called back the number and guess who answered. Someone in INDIA. WHAT a surprise! I decided to have some fun. He asked if I was me and I said I didn’t know if I was me and asked him what he wanted. He said it was about my bill and was I me. I told him I didn’t know if I was me but I wanted to know what this was about. This went back and forth until he finally said, “This call is going nowhere” and I said, “Wrong, it’s going to end” and I hung up before he could. I still haven’t figured out how these scammers know the names of who they call. They are relentless and I’m sure there are people who sadly fall for their BS. The e-mail especially is very real looking, until you look at the area code they want you to use, which is a known scammer area code. I hope these people rot in HELL, which is where they deserve to rot.
I answered e-mails, I did some Sami stuff, then I ordered a spicy Eyetalian sandwich from Subway and that came about twenty minutes later and was very good. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish, turned on a movie and fell asleep about twenty seconds later and stayed asleep for an hour. After that, I shaved and showered, and then it was time for me to mosey on over to the theater for our run-through. After the rehearsal, I stopped at Ralph’s for more Diet Coke, and got a little salad thing and a wrap. I ate the salad and half the wrap and I’ll have the other half today to tide me over until after the show, when I’m hoping some of us will go grab a bite to eat.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, and then I’m meeting the cast at six to run through a few things as a warmup. Then we do the show at eight o’clock.
Tomorrow is more of the same and then we do the second of our two performances and I’m thinking we should take our cast out as a thank you – we shall see. Thursday night I’m seeing the musical Transparent, and then it’s back to doing Sami promotion.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, do our first performance, and hopefully go out after for a bite to eat. Today’s topic of discussion: Have you ever been fooled by a phishing email or phone call? I’ll start – in the very early days of my having a computer, circa 2001, I think I did fall prey to it a couple of times but thankfully stopped before inputting any information. It’s scary as HELL when that happens. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have not fallen prey to the scammers scam.
