THE ILLEGAL FIREWORKS ASSOCIATION OF MORONS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the remnants of the illegal fireworks going on by the Illegal Fireworks Association of Morons, hoping all our sweet doggie friends have made it through this nonsense okay. I, myself, have not been setting off illegal fireworks. No, instead I’ve been writing for the past two hours and that’s been fun in a sort of fun way. Prior to that, I did watch a documentary entitled Life Itself about Roger Ebert, released in 2014. Other than him dying, I didn’t really know anything about his actual life other than his TV Siskel and Ebert thing, which I really didn’t care for, and his working the red carpet at the Oscars, which I liked even less. But the documentary was very interesting and fun, and the Siskel and Ebert clips and outtakes were illuminating as their occasionally volatile relationship. And I knew nothing of his health issues at the end, which were terrible, especially having to lose a good deal of his jaw. There is a lot of footage of the aftermath of that, and it’s hard to watch sometimes. It’s ultimately moving and I ended up enjoying finding out about the different sides of him and his life. I didn’t really even attempt to watch anything else because I was tired from a bit less than seven hours of sleep, so I actually got in bed and slept on and off for a couple of hours.

Yesterday was mostly a nothing day. I ended up with a 40% off coupon for Uber Eats, and Daughter’s Deli had a ninety-nine-cent delivery charge, so I ordered a turkey sandwich with coleslaw and Russian dressing, which came with a teeny-tiny thing of potato salad that literally had two bites. And I got a small thing of chicken salad to have later. I got seven hours of sleep, got up, answered a few e-mails, and then the food arrived at 1:30. The sandwich was perfect and obviously calorie friendly. Then I did a few things on the computer, took the nap, and then watched the documentary. I took a break during it and had the little thing of chicken salad, which was very good.

After the movie, I had to find a couple of things on the computer that had to do with the writing, then I did the two hours and did about seven or eight pages. And then it was time to write these here post-fourth of July notes. At the time I began writing them, little did I know that these here notes would be in contention for the top ten most boring notes in the history of notes.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, pray for a modern major miracle, check with the mail place to see if anything is there, call eBay about how they handle payouts now that it’s not PayPal anymore, I’ll eat something fun – I think it’ll be a Gelson’s visit for some pasta with red sauce and sweet Eyetalian sausage. I’ve only concocted that once before and I recall it being really good. Hoping for zero irritants, then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, Friday may be the meeting and meal, then I’m not at all certain about what’s happening on the weekend. I’m sure we’ll all feel discombobulated due to the weird holiday days – certainly, it doesn’t feel like Wednesday today, it feels like Monday, and I think that will only get worse as the few days of the week left go by. My stress level is stressed.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, pray for a modern major miracle, check with the mail place to see what’s what, call eBay, eat something fun from Gelson’s of my own concocting, hope for zero irritants, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that the Illegal Fireworks Association of Morons is almost done being illegal and moronic.
