Well, dear readers, once again I have listened to no music, I have watched no motion pictures, I have watched some frauditor videos on the Tube of You because they pass the time and are occasionally amusing, I have sat on my couch like so much fish and dozed off for a few minutes here and there as well as there and here, I have walked from the computer to the bedroom several times, taken some trash outside, which was VERY exciting, but I think you know what I was mostly doing all day and all evening, which was proofing, proofing, and more proofing. I’m finding mostly very minor things – typos, repeated words, sentences that go on too long, so I break them into separate sentences, italics, a few spacing issues, and stuff like that. I began proofing at noon. I got up at eleven after eight hours of sleep with very weird dreams. I proofed for a couple of hours then made hot dogs for food, the no-fat kind that are only 45 calories per dog on a 130-calorie bun. They were good, and I had one of those chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich things for a sweet. I do believe I was barely over 1000 calories, so that was good. Then I continued proofing and that was the rest of the day right into the evening, with a few breaks to rest my weary eyeballs. Now, I must say right here that these are VERY exciting notes, aren’t they? I haven’t been this excited about notes since I saw a turnip in the middle of some onions. THAT was exciting, but anything with turnips is exciting because it is an edible root, and we cannot have enough edible roots. Edible Roots – that’s the title of my next novel. And then there’s The Randy Vicar and the Edible Root. I seem to have veered off course, gone off on a tangent, taken a detour. I do that sometimes and I’ve very self-aware when it happens because I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck, you know. What the HELL am I talking about?
In any case, I think you get the point, the drift, the idea – I proofed a LOT, namely 150 pages, which took me to page 300, so only 160 pages to go and I may try to do a few before going to bed. Then I’ll be able to get the book to the proofers. In this last batch, there’s only two minor things to run by Muse Margaret. I will say this: This. I am enjoying the book, it seems to move along at a steady clip, it hasn’t bored me yet, and I haven’t gotten antsy about anything going on too long. I have a character in this book that I absolutely loved writing and I’m really happy with the way the character came out. It was totally unexpected, this character. It just came to me while I was going into a new sequence. I could do a whole book with this character, but I won’t. It will be fun to see if anyone guesses which character it is.
Today, I’ll finish proofing, I’ll run whatever little bits I need to run by Muse Margaret, and then I’ll send the book to the two proofers so they can do their proofing thing. I’ll probably make some kind of pasta, either Wacky Noodles or pasta with red sauce, although if I do the latter, I’d need to go buy an onion. We shall see. I have a 5:00 Zoom with David Wechter, so I definitely want to be finished by then. Then I can finally watch, listen, and relax. I have a movie I want to watch entitled Ten Seconds to Hell, which is the sequel to Five Seconds to Heaven. It’s a Robert Aldrich movie, one of the few I haven’t seen and one of its stars is – Dave Willock, daddy of Muse Margaret.
Tomorrow will be a ME day. I do have to do some work on the project with David Wechter, but that would be it. The weekend is an unknown, other than she of the Evil Eye comes on Saturday.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finish proofing, run a couple of things by Muse Margaret, send the book to the two proofing proofers, eat, have a 5:00 Zoom with David Wechter, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion. I forgot that yesterday was Ask BK Day, so we’ll do that today. It’s Ask BK Day Late Version, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream beautiful dreams of edible roots.
