Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the tap-tap-tap of my fingers hitting the keys of the keyboard which, frankly, isn’t that interesting. It occurs to me that I haven’t listened to music of any kind for weeks. Maybe we should rectify that, what do you think? Okay, I went to the Tube of You and instead of finding some irritating video, I found a clarinet concerto I’d never heard by John Veale, whose music I’m very fond of (film and classical). It’s a haunting and beautiful concerto. Speaking of haunting and beautiful concertos, I did watch part of a motion picture last evening, something I haven’t seen in a couple of decades, the horrible movie called Supergirl. I do like Helen Slater, even though she’s not great in it, and Faye Dunaway and Brenda Vaccaro certainly look like they’re having fun, But Hart Bochner is wooden as oak, and the whole movie just kind of lays there. I got through and hour of it and could take no more, even though Jerry Goldsmith tries his hardest to keep it interesting. Prior to that, I supped with Barry and Cindy Pearl at Little Toni’s and that was really fun and just what I needed – a nice dinner with friends. We had a HUGE antipasto salad that we all partook of, they had a pizza, and I had spaghetti and meatballs, not necessarily in that order. I can normally finish off any amount of food but I had to quit not even a third of the way through. So, I took the rest home and had it a few hours later. Speaking of a few hours later, I’m now going to have to bring reading glasses everywhere I go. I just can’t focus close up anymore.
Yesterday was okay. I got just under eight hours of sleep, got up, shaved and showered, answered e-mails, and then did a quick ATM stop before going to the theater for the casting session. It lasted three hours. I basically just sit there and listen. After that, I went to the mail place to ship something but forgot to bring the address – oops. Then I went to Staples to make a copy of the new book, which I’ll pick up on my way to the theater. It’s so expensive to Xerox now – this cost just under $100 – unbelievable. Then I came home briefly, then went to Little Toni’s. After that, I came right home and the rest you know.
Today, I’ll be up by ten, I’ll pick up the printed manuscript, I’ll do another three-hour casting session, I’ll eat, I’ll ship the item, and then I’ll start proofing the book, after which I can watch, listen, and relax.
This coming week is proofing the book, getting up to speed on the project with David Wechter, and catching up on all the things I’ve let slide. And then, I can hopefully get one or two titles up for ordering. We’ll also work on the cover for the new book, and my two proofers will get their copies by Tuesday, I think.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, I’ll pick up the printed manuscript, have a casting session, eat, ship an item, proof a book, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, not happy with the high cost of Xeroxing.
