WHAT CAN I SAY THAT I HAVEN’T ALREADY SAID?

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what can I say that I haven’t already said for the past twenty-two years in these here notes? Haven’t I said it all and then some? Haven’t I exhausted every topic under the sun and over the moon? Isn’t it a case of been there, done that or at least done that, been there? I suppose I could write these here notes in a different language. Let’s try that: Je suis assis ici comme un poisson, écrivant ces notes ici en français. C’est très excitant et pourtant je m’ennuie déjà. Well, that was an interesting experiment in nothingness, wasn’t it? Let’s just carry on and be done with it. Right now, I am playing no music. Earlier, I watched the first thirty minutes of Singin’ in the Rain, a wonderful motion picture that will never really look like it should, due to its original negative being burned in a fire. I owned about eight IB Technicolor prints of Singin’ in the Rain and they were all spectacular, with eye popping color. The Blu-ray was highly lauded but not by the likes of me because I know what it should look like and it’s just flat as a pancake to my eyes. I believe there’s now a 4K release but unless some new technology was used, I see no reason to have it. I just glanced at a few of the 4K reviews and they’re glowing but so were the reviews of the decade old Blu-ray. I’d like to see it if only I had a 4K TV. That was really it for my evening, which was mostly devoted to writing due to the fact that so much of the day got away from me. Yesterday was a nice day. I did get nine hours of sleep, arising an hour later than planned, at eleven-thirty. I answered a lot of e-mails and did some stuff that needed doing, futzed and finessed only one page before having to shave and shower, which I finished doing just three minutes before Marshall Harvey arrived to drive us to Barone’s for a nice lunch.  We decided to do something different and split a medium pepperoni pizza, which is comprised of ten rather small pieces of pizza. Eating three of those is probably equivalent to one slice of normal pizza. We each had five pieces and it was really good. We also each had a small dinner salad, and that was good, too. We caught up on various and sundried things.

After that, I had to go deposit a small check at the bank, which I did, and after that, I some more rice pudding and whipped cream at Gelson’s. I’m quite obsessed with rice pudding at the moment. In fact, I have a rice pudding on my back.  Then I finally started futzing and finessing all the pages I’d done, fourteen, I think, and that took quite a while but I got it done, everything is smoother, I moved a few things around, I removed some stuff and I added some stuff. Then I wrote a couple of pages, just getting my feet wet in this new section. This is a section that could end up running sixty pages, but I don’t really want that, so I struggled a bit with how to shape it. I wrote another five pages and then another three, and it seemed like the pace was fine, but I wasn’t moving from thing to thing fast enough to keep this thing not too long. But then I got another gift from above and figured out the perfect away to move it along really quickly and I’m now thinking that when I’m done with this section, it will hopefully not be over twenty pages. I’m currently at fourteen. In any case, I continued writing, a total of fourteen pages, so that was good, but I’m exhausted now.

Today will be mostly writing, I’ll check with the mail place to see what’s there, I’ll eat something fun, I have to put gas in the motor car, but mostly I’ll be writing, and I’ll try to do at least eight pages, but if I’m feeling it, maybe several more than that. In fact, what I’d really like is to finish this section today because after this section, things will move more quickly, as I know exactly where I’m going from that point to the end. At some point, I’ll finish watching Singin’ in the Rain.

Tomorrow will be more writing, then a dinner with Cousin Dee Dee and her ever-lovin’ Alan and our friend Saul. Haven’t seen Dee Dee and Alan in years, actually. After that, more writing. Monday, I’ll send a new batch of pages to Muse Margaret, probably another ninety, if I’m calculating correctly.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, futz and finesse, write new pages, check to see what’s at the mail place, eat, put gas in the motor car, write, and then at some point, finish Singin’ in the Rain. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite MGM musicals? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hopefully having said at least one thing that I haven’t already said.
