Well, dear readers, there’s been a whole lotta proofing going on. In fact, that’s all I’ve been doing, as carefully as I can. And I keep finding things none of us caught – small stuff, like missing quote marks, a couple of things that are indented that shouldn’t be, and other little issues. I think we could probably proof it ten more times and still find stuff, but at some point you really do have to walk away. I did have to take a few breaks – one really must rest one’s eyes every now and then, so you don’t get sloppy. So, I’m afraid there isn’t much to write about, but I’ll do my best, although I cannot promise these here notes will be entertaining or filled with interesting content, but that’s what happens when you’ve been single-mindedly doing one thing all day and evening. I have about fifty pages to go and I’m planning on finishing after I post these here notes. So, what breaking bombshell news can I tell you? Well, it’s Sunday. That’s a shocker. It’s the last week of September – that’s a bigger shocker. Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. That’s about it, really. Oh, I could tell the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Corkscrew but then I’d have to atone for it tomorrow. Anyway, maybe we should just move on to yesterday.
Yesterday, which we’ve just moved on to, was all right if you enjoy proofing all day and evening. I was up just before eight and out of the house at eight-thirty when she of the Evil Eye arrived. I decided on Hugo’s for breakfast – hadn’t been there in ages. It wasn’t very crowded, which was surprisingly surprising. I had pasta papa and it was very good. After that, I went to the mail place where I picked up no mail. Then I went to Gelson’s, looked around for about thirty minutes, but didn’t buy anything. Then I came home just as she of the Evil Eye was departing.
I began proofing immediately and over the course of the day and evening I proofed about two hundred pages, taking occasional breaks. I had some sour cream and onion potato chips, some Raisinettes, and some fruity Mentos for my snacks. I did watch a few irritating YouTube videos, mostly first amendment auditors getting tossed out of buildings or being arrested. These people are the scum of the earth. None of them care one whit about their rights or your rights – they’re all low-life jerks who don’t work but have found a way to monetize their disgusting videos. They go places specifically looking for a confrontation – they deny that, but let’s face it, you don’t have to be an Einstein to know that if they just went and filmed places with no drama, no one would watch their idiotic videos. No, they have to have the confrontation and they will push and push until they get it. These are vile ignoramuses and sadly they are allowed to harass and curse and hurl vile epithets at the police and the police can do nothing about it – I think it’s time to change that because it should not be allowed. My feeling is, that any time these idiots show up, someone should immediately start filming them and blocking their view. After all, a public space isn’t a one-way street, nor is freedom of speech, so giving them what they give would be very satisfying. The videos I watched are done by channels that make merciless fun of these frauditors, but these people are so annoying that it ends up making your blood boil. They never shut up, they talk over everyone, they all seem to have speech impediments, when the police do arrest them, which happens frequently, the minute they’re put in cuffs every one of the suddenly cries and screams that they have a shoulder injury. They all read from the same script and it’s just laughable. But they’re making money and as long as that’s the case, this will continue. However, states are already changing laws to stop this kind of thing. Harassment is a crime and so if they’re harassing the police, that should be an arrestable offence. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend going down THAT rabbit hole.
Anyway, there was a whole lot of proofing going on and that was the majority of the day and evening.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll send in my fixes (probably thirty to forty little things), I’ll eat, but mostly it’ll be a ME day and evening. And I hope to watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, so I’ll atone for my occasional impatience and irritations, I’m not sure I’ll be able to fast all day, but we shall see. Then on Tuesday evening we begin music rehearsals for 70, Girls, 70. I’m close to deciding on our leading lady and will decided by the end of today. I’ll also do work on the project with David Wechter, and I’ll have a short rehearsal for the actor who’ll be doing the rest of the run of Doug’s playlet.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, send in my final fixes, eat, have a ME day and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, but before I do there’ll be more a whole lotta proofing going on until I finish.
