Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I must get at least some sleep before she arrives. I watched no motion pictures due to doing a final proofing. Haven’t found much so far, but we could proof this thing 100 times and there’d still be something. It’s maddening. I should have caught what I’ve caught two proofings ago but nooooo, that would have been too easy. Anyway, I’m going slowly and trying to be very careful. I do have to watch out that I don’t second guess myself on anything – this is really just for typos, misspellings, spacing, and that kind of thing. The interior of the book looks swell. There’ll probably be twenty little things to fix and that won’t take them too long. In the first sixty pages, I’ve only found three tiny things. Three Tiny Things – that’s the title of my next novel. That was really my entire evening, except for watching a couple of irritating videos on the Tube of You.
Yesterday was all right, I suppose. Got a few book orders and would like more, overslept but only by an hour – same thing – alarm set but I had the phone on silent from the night before and forgot to take it off silent. From now on, I’m not using that function anymore – I’ll just turn it off and that way it staying on silent will never be an issue. Once up, I answered e-mails, and then I had to get ready for our casting session.
I moseyed on over to the theater. We saw five people. I now have a couple of choices for the Mildred Natwick role and I have to decide if I want to go that route or if I want to keep thinking about who else might be available. One of my choices did have a Natwick type vibe, but it’s a very tricky role. Otherwise, we’re fully cast now.
After we finished, Doug Haverty and I went to the Coral Café to discuss everything. We have a wonderful costume designer, but no set designer. We have a sound and lighting guy, but no set designer. We must find a damn set designer. I had a patty melt and fries, not necessarily in that order, and that was very tasty and good.
After that, I came right home and continued proofing because one simply must continue proofing. All the best people do. And that was pretty much the evening, proofing and a few telephonic conversations.
Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine. I’ll have a light breakfast somewhere, do some errands and whatnot, I’ll check to see if there’s anything at the mail place, and then I’ll come home and continue proofing until I finish, so I can send in the final fixes, they can do them, and I’ll just check those places and that will be that if they’ve all been done correctly. Doug will finish the dust jacket stuff and then the whole thing can go to the publisher for publishing. I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is a damn ME day and that’s all there is to it. Monday, I’ll be prepping 70, Girls, 70 and then Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we have music rehearsals. I also have work to do on the project with David Wechter. So, a busy little week upcoming. Oh, and a rehearsal to put the actor into the playlet for the rest of the run. He’s seeing the show tomorrow so can note the blocking and timing adjustments we’ve been making.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, have a light breakfast, do errands and whatnot, stop at the mail place, and then proof until I finish. Today’s topic of discussion: What music have you been listening to lately that you’ve really enjoyed and would recommend? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be almost fully cast.
