Well, dear readers, it is high time I wrote these here notes so here I am at high time, writing these here notes, which is much more preferable than writing them at low time. Today is Yom Kippur and we’re supposed to fast until sundown – we’ll see how that goes. Usually, when one is fasting the fast goes slow. We, the Jewish people, atone for our sins on Yom Kippur. I will do my best. Meanwhile, I did watch the first hour of an interesting HBO documentary called The Cheshire Murders, made in 2013. I knew nothing of this triple homicide and it’s very interesting, but I shan’t write more until I finish it. I listened to no music, but that’s going to change shortly, and of course we had the ubiquitous every two-week computer freeze. But we’re up and running now although we’ll have to shut down again tomorrow for reasons I’ll explain in a bit. For now, I feel we should tell the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Corn Dog. However, if I did tell that tale I’d immediately have to atone for it. Currently, I’m eating some sour cream and onion Lay’s potato chips for a little evening snack.
Yesterday was definitely a ME day. I got ten hours of needed sleep, got up at 1:30, answered e-mails, had some telephonic conversations, had the ubiquitous computer freeze and restart, had no book orders but did have a couple of CD orders. I decided on the small Marco’s pizza for food and that arrived soon thereafter and was very good. I didn’t leave the house at all. We settled on our final cast member for 70, Girls, 70. I guess I can reveal that in addition to our wonderful Group Rep members who are in it, we also have three rather incredible ladies, Sharon McNight, Kay Cole, and Fay De Witt. I think at the very least we’re going to have an whole lot of fun. I watched a few irritating YouTube frauditor videos – all the frauditors are annoying as HELL, but there’s one in particular – a guy who’s about 5’3” and about three hundred pounds who does nothing but scream at police and who constantly ends up in handcuffs. He’s a real charmer and at some point I do hope they lock him up and throw away the key. Then I watched the first hour of the two-hour documentary, which I’ll finish as soon as I post these here notes and begin fasting, although maybe today isn’t the day we fast. I’ll have to ask one of my Jewish friends about that.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll fast if today is the day of fasting, or at least I’ll try, I’ll atone for all The Randy Vicar tales we’ve told, and at some point the DWP is coming and will shut off the electricity for thirty minutes, or so they say. I’m really going to be strong about holding them to that timeline because I have work to do and if the electricity is off, I will not be able to do it. I also want to be here when it goes on just to make certain all is well. They’re apparently switching out a power pole in the Grant house next door. Oh, I did finish proofing the book and sent in the twenty-seven little fixes we found, so in the next day or so I should get what will hopefully be the locked final that will go to the publisher. After the fast, if there IS a fast, I will have some food. Maybe I’ll even go to Gelson’s and get some Jew food if they have any left. Or I’ll have something else and just atone for it. At some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, it’s back to work on the project with David Wechter, and then at seven we have our first music rehearsal for 70, Girls, 70 and I’m very much looking forward to THAT. Wednesday and Thursday are also music rehearsals, as is Saturday. I’ll be there to listen because I know I’ll get ideas for staging as I listen. I already have something really fun planned for one of the numbers. Otherwise, I’ll have a couple of meetings and meals and that will be that. Plus, a rehearsal for the playlet to put in our other actor.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, I’ll fast if I’m supposed to fast, I’ll atone for something, I’ll endure a thirty-minute power shut down, I’ll get some food, either from Gelson’s or somewhere close by, and then I can watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: If you had to atone for something, what would it be? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, and perhaps soon after arising I’ll watch the movie Atonement. Or The Ten Commandments.
