Well, dear readers, the reaction to the forthcoming Kritzer World book has been very heartening and therefore for most of yesterday I was heartened. That and a modern major miracle that happened. We love when a modern major miracle happens because it’s a stress reducer of the highest order. I did not have time to watch any motion pictures last night, due to attending a run-through of the one-acts. Actually, I only attended the run-through of the one I directed because I was very busy attending to other things. I finished writing the flap copy for the dust jacket and we’re going to try and go live with pre-orders for Kritzer World either today or tomorrow and you will be the first to know. Now, if anyone would like to be a Venmo guinea pig I’ll put that information in the third comment of the new day’s topic. That’s available to do right away and it’s simple as pie and I’d like to make sure it’s going to work. I haven’t gotten back the adjusted designed book for final proofing, which is surprising since the adjustments were simple and didn’t involve the text of the book at all. Speaking of Kritzer World, in the writing of it, I found out many new things about my grandparents, mostly on Ancestry or one of those sites. And there’s a guy who’s distantly related on my mother’s side who writes me every now and then, and just last night he sent me my grandparents’ marriage certificate (in real life Dave and Gussie Gross, in the books it’s Gus and Dottie Gelfinbaum). Turns out I must have been named after my grandfather’s father, whose name is Baruch, my Jewish name (meaning blessed). They were married in NYC after which they moved to Chicago. I looked up the address of my grandfather and it seems to not be there anymore, on Delancey Street. But my grandmother’s residence is still there on Clinton Street and I found it on Google.

Here’s the marriage certificate.
Isn’t that fascinatingly fascinating? One other thing about the new book – I gave some people in the book their real names – mostly the people who are deceased except for a handful of living people whose names I felt I wanted to use, even though they’re used fictionally. But everyone gets their real initials if I use fictionalized names.
Yesterday was basically a good day, although once again, I only got four hours of sleep. We need to rectify that situation, oh, yes, we need to rectify that situation. Once up at eleven, I answered e-mails, worked on the flap copy, had fried catfish and potato salad for food, had some telephonic conversations, got the news of a modern major miracle, read the many lovelier than lovely comments about Kritzer World, dozed off for about thirty minutes, watched a few irritating YouTube videos, and then moseyed on over to the theater to see our playlet, which got lots o’ laughs. I have to clean up one piece of blocking unless the person involved just forgot and made something up – but it just didn’t look good, so I want to put it back the way it wuz. After our playlet was done, I beat a hasty retreat and then a hasty retreat reciprocated in kind and beat me. Once I got home, I got Doug Haverty all the information he needed to make the book order page.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll do some work on the project with David Wechter, I’ll eat (I may eat out before or after the preview), and then I’ll attend the preview, although just act two, then I’ll come home and if there’s time I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is more of the same and of course we open the evening of one-acts tomorrow evening, after which there’ll be a little partay. Not sure what’s happening on the weekend.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, do some work on the project with David Wechter, eat, attend the preview, then come home and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, amazed to have been sent the marriage certificate of Gussie and Dave Gross.
