THE ANNIVERSARY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late and therefore it is late, which means in no uncertain terms that it is late. Therefore, and forthwith, I shall write these here notes like the wind, windy notes that will flutter and fly by, like a gazelle taking singing the National Anthem whilst doing a triple lutz eating a bean and cheese burrito. We had, I think, five people missing from our rehearsal, but we gained one new cast member and she’s a delight. We still need to replace one of the major cast members. My ask couldn’t do it, and a couple of others had similar scheduling issues. We’re waiting to hear about someone else and I have one other person I can ask. Hopefully, we’ll find someone before Saturday’s rehearsal. We blocked in our new gal and she’s very quick and sprightly for an eighty-year-old. Once that was done, I carried on from where we left off, put a button on a musical number, then did a short scene that led into a long and a bit complicated comic scene, but I have to say it’s really funny and blocking it was a hoot. Our other cast members were laughing throughout. That was pretty much the evening and we’re probably approaching the two-thirds mark of act one – so Saturday we might just be able to finish act one, which would be great. We rehearsed in a rec room where Doug Haverty is living – not optimal, and we have a much better space for the next two Thursday rehearsals. After rehearsal, I did a quick stop at Gelson’s and got a twelve-pack of Diet Coke and a couple of egg rolls, came home, ate the egg rolls and some gummy thingies.

Yesterday was interesting. I only got about five hours of sleep, got up and was intending to go right back to bed, but amazingly a mere three days after turning in the book files I had a galley and covers to approve, which I did. So, in a week or so I should have my test book. Exciting. I answered e-mails, did some stuff on the computer, then had pasta papa for food – very good. I had telephonic conversations galore, I snoozed for a few minutes, then I had to shave and shower.

Then we had our rehearsal and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven or so, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll have a lunch meeting, I’ll do some work on the project with David Wechter and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, we’re back rehearsing, twelve to four and it’s my intention to get to the end of act one. Then we’re off until Tuesday. IF we find our replacement gal, we may have to work on Sunday for a couple of hours and then I may be seeing a play.

I find it truly hard to believe that one year ago we’d wrapped the New York shoot for Sami and were getting ready to do the two LA episodes. I suppose time flies when you’re having fun or when you’re timing flies.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven or so, do whatever needs doing, have a lunch meeting, write, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? I’ll start – CD, 70, Girls, 70. The other stuff – I have no idea. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, astonished that it’s a one-year anniversary since filming.
