THE THINKING CAP

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, once again it is late because once again we had drama to deal with and hopefully by morning that will be past us so we can do what we need to do to get this show to be as good as it can be and I’m convinced that it can be very good indeed. There are genuinely hilarious moments in the show, the characters are fun, are actors are fun, but we need to hunker down and just get the thing on its feet and running smoothly and we kind of have to do that by Sunday. The songs are delightful, too. It’s all been a bit wacky, but I just have to have everyone stay focused with our collective eyeballs on opening night. But enough about eyeballs. Obviously, I had no time to watch or listen – it was a non-stop day of telephonic conversations, e-mail volleys, telephonic conversations, e-mail volleys, and vice versa. I got a little over eight hours of sleep with more weird dreams, I had Panda Express for food – very good – and I will admit to watching two or three irritating YouTube videos. Someone who bought the new book on Amazon and read it, posted that I had an amazing memory for details of the LACC years. He’s the first person who’s read it who was there, and, in fact, he’s in the book, albeit with a different fictional last name. He promised to write an Amazon review in a few days. Several LACC folks ordered the book from Kritzerland, so that will be fun to see their reaction. I have begun using the Closys mouthwash thing and it really works well, I think. So far, so good. So good, so far. These notes are boring me to tears. I fell asleep twice during this paragraph already. I think these notes need some jumping beans or something, something that will perk them the HELL up. Let me put on my thinking cap. Oops, I can’t find my thinking cap, it seems to have gone missing. Just when you need your damn thinking cap it takes a flyer, it goes into hiding, it disappears into the ether. Wherefore art thou, thinking cap? Anyway, I’ll have to make do with my non-thinking cap cap and maybe we should put a cap on this damn boring me to tears paragraph.

Thank goodness, paragraph two in the nick of time. Can someone explain to me how October is almost over? That just boggles my already boggled mind. October has flown by, like a gazelle with a thinking cap, MY thinking cap – the damn gazelle has stolen my damn thinking cap. In any case, it’s getting later and later so maybe I should just move this along.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat a sandwich or something resembling a sandwich, I’ll hope that the drama removes itself from all rooms, I’ll try to relax, and then we have our rehearsal, during which we’ll continue connecting the damn dots for act two so we can get serious about our stumble-throughs for the weekend.

Tomorrow, I can semi-relax until it’s time for our rehearsal. Anyone who wants to come early can, to run lines, blocking, ography, whatever. We start in earnest at six o’clock and go until ten. Same exact schedule for Sunday, then Monday we’re off and I will have a damn ME day and I don’t care who knows it.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat a sandwich or other foodstuff, whatever takes my fancy, hope for no more drama of ANY kind, relax, have a rehearsal, then come home and wind down. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? I’ll start – CD, nothing. Other stuff, nothing. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall hope to retrieve the damn thinking cap that the gazelle lifted.
