HEFTY MITTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because it is way after midnight, and I must let it all hang out. So, here it is in a nutshell, although what it is doing in a nutshell, I have no idea. I arrived at the theater at two o’clock for our brush-up rehearsal, which was way too rough for my taste. Lots of missed lines, fumfering, and things that have always been right suddenly not being right. So, I gave notes, and then toddled off to dine with the Pearls at Dino’s Pizza. We had our usual pepperoni pizza, great as always. I was good and only had three pieces, and these are not huge slices. They’d also ordered an antipasto salad, so we all partook of that and it was good, and then Barry also got some sausage and meatballs baked pasta dish, which I don’t think was much to his liking. Then they stayed there whilst I went back to the theater to get the couple of sound issues fixed. Then a funny thing happened. I’d gotten a note at the theater a couple of weeks ago, from a lady saying she was coming to see the show and that she’d sat next to me in a class at my junior high school and also my high school. So, I met her last night – very sweet – and she said she couldn’t remember teacher names, but I mentioned my two favorites and she instantly remembered the class – Mr. Williamson’s music class. That would have probably been the eighth grade. She’s gonna buy the Kritzer books now, which I think she’ll get a kick out of. Also attending the show were Robert Yacko, Kerry O’Malley, my friend Dan Glosser, Marshall Harvey and Henry Stanny. Robert, Doug, Marshall, Henry, and I went out after the show to the Coral Café. We had about sixty-four people, which is GREAT for a Friday night at this theater, and boy were they a great audience – loud, huge laughs, and hefty mitts. The big comic scene from act two went the best it’s ever gone, and the audience was howling from start to finish. There was still a little too much fumfering for my taste, but hopefully that will get better for tonight’s performance. I wasn’t going to attend, but I will go down there to clean up three little things I’m not happy with. Very simple stuff. I think the majority of our audiences are loving the show and many have come up to me and just said how joyous it all is.

Prior to all that, I got about seven hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, had a little miracle for an emergency situation, then showered and went to the theater. The rest you know, and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll do some writing, I’ll eat something light but fun or at least something fun but light, then around six-thirty I’ll head over to the theater, clean up the three things, then I’ll probably go home rather than see the show. We’ll see how I’m feeling and if I know anyone who’s coming. But I’m most likely gonna come home and watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is our matinee and the Shermans are coming so that will really be fun. I’m told we’re close to being sold out for that performance. Then next week is a lot of writing and putting out fires, and then, somehow, it will be a new month. How could November have flown by so damn fast. Just amazing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, write, eat, clean up three things, and then most likely go back home instead of seeing the show. Today’s topic of discussion: What do you think of this crazy craze of dipping pizza in ranch dressing? I find even the thought of it nauseating and wonder where that actually started as a trend. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had such a great audience and gotten such hefty mitts.
