Well, dear readers, I ended up sticking around for last night’s show, mostly because I fixed the two stage waits where scene changes happened, because, for me, there is nothing worse than waiting while the stage is reset for the next scene. These are things I would have fixed during run-throughs – you know, the run-throughs we never got to have. So, I’m using the four weeks to get the show to be the best it can be. The two fixes were very simple to implement and I’m happy to say that both worked splendidly and there is no not a single stage wait in the entire show. Everything flows from one scene to another seamlessly, which is always my goal. We also cleaned up a couple of music issues and the music last night was the best it’s been. We had an ever bigger house than Friday night – somewhere around seventy-five people (the theater seats ninety-two). This is the first show in a couple of years that did this well this quickly. Usually, weeks one and two are pretty light. Of course, we didn’t have week two, and we were worried people might even forget we were doing the show, but given that today’s matinee is completely sold out, I’m beginning to think that the rest of the run will do well. The shame of it is that we can’t extend. Anyway, the audience once again was terrific, very vocal, and while there were a few energy problems here and there, it played very well. We always get very nice comments after the show. Dear readers Mark and Amy were there, so that was nice. After the show, I came right home and ordered a chili burger from Tommy’s, as I’d only had a sandwich earlier. It arrived and was very good.
Yesterday, I got seven hours of sleep. The handyman came and fixed the terlet in the guest bathroom. It wasn’t flushing properly, in that it would flush but the water wouldn’t refill until an hour later, and then it was just making quiet noises all the time. He had to replace a part and said he’d be back around five. I ordered a sandwich from Jersey Mike’s – it was okay. Then I relaxed, answered lots of e-mails, then the handyman returned with the terlet part, installed, and now everything is working as it should. That leaves the garage door to be fixed and hopefully that will happen sooner than later. Then it was time to mosey on over to the theater and the rest you know and here we are.
Today, I’ll be up at ten-thirty, I’ll shave and shower and I’ll leave here at 12:30 so I’m at the theater for the Shermans’ arrival. We’ll get them situated and seated prior to the house opening. Then we’ll play the matinee. I’ll either go out for a bite to eat after the show, or I’ll stop somewhere and get stuff to eat in the home environment. Then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, it’s back to writing, but I’m going to have to spend several hours this week studying for the driving test. I think they have the handbook online on the DMV website. I’ll take a few of the sample tests, as well. Must be prepared for it. Then the rest of the week will be writing, we’ll probably have a brush-up rehearsal before we’re back on Friday and, of course, shocking though it may be – it will be a new month.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up at ten-thirty, shave and shower, mosey on over to the theater, visit with the Shermans, see the matinee (probably standing at the back of the theater), then maybe going out for food or stopping at the market to get stuff, after which I can watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had another great and full audience on a Saturday night.
