Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news – it is Christmas. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is Christmas and I hope Santa was very good to all our dear readers and their loved ones. I received no visit from Santa because he’s been reading these here notes and wants me to be 100% better before visiting, which means perhaps next year. All I wanted for Christmas was the Do but obviously the Do Didn’t. So, did I have myself a merry little Christmas Eve? No, I did not. However, I shall not dwell on it, oh, no, I shall not dwell on it. I shall merely relate the day and evening to you as I remember them. I got up at eleven-thirty after eleven-and-a-half-hours of sleep. I then got dressed for the first time since last Wednesday, when the dog went home, and went to the mail place and got two packages. The Gelson’s parking lot was insane. Lines of cars desperate to try and find a parking space for shopping they could have done yesterday. I had a nice parking place at the mail jernt, so I just crossed the street, entered Gelson’s, got what I came for, and then went to the Express Lane – you know that no one there was just buying an item or two, so the express lane was empty. But Gelson’s had every checkout lane open, so that was good. I was in an out of there in five minutes. Then I came back home and made a batch of tuna pasta salad. I put in the refrigerator and went back to bed, arising three hours later. The tuna pasta salad was chilled but not quite as much as I like, so I stuck it in the freezer for ten minutes and that did the trick. I then had two nice helpings. Nothing tastes very good to me now, but it was comforting to have it. I had some dried prunes afterwards. Then I played on the computer for a bit, then watched the latest episode of Reacher. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a show with more exposition than this one. Basically, we’re there to see Reacher take on all the bad guys.
After that, I had another helping of the tuna pasta salad, a fruit bar (grape) and an ice cream sandwich. Then I girded my loins and watched the rest of Barbie. I’ll give it to Mattell – they got the right people to write it and I’m not saying the writing is great, I’m saying it’s filled with hipster stuff left and right, it’s female empowerment to the max for young girls and older women. It’s fun at times, but then it just gets endlessly preachy and doesn’t know when to quit – many endings, it wants it all ways from Sunday – smart assy and then serious and moving. Cast is fine – best of them is Rhea Perlman in a small but pivotal role. And there’s a nice joke at then end to send ‘em out laughing. Did this, as a film, deserve to do the insane business it did? No. But it did. And did. And did. And now they’re campaigning (and I do mean CAMPAIGNING) to get it nominated for more Academy Awards than any other film in history. Of course, from what I’ve seen this year, not a strong year at all unless there are some surprises coming this week.
After that, I shaved (hadn’t shaved since Tuesday), and that felt good. Then it was time to write these here notes. I shan’t mention the three meltdowns I had, oh, no, I shan’t mention them.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing (which will be nothing), I’ll eat the rest of the tuna pasta salad, and I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, I’ll have to cancel the dinner event I was to attend – not quite ready for that yet, so basically I’ll be home for the rest of the week, resting and hopefully feeling back to 100%.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat, but mostly sleep and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: How are you celebrating Christmas today? Any fun presents? And food, always food. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, wishing everyone the merriest and happiest Christmas Day.
