CATCHING UP WITH AN OLD FRIEND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what the HELL am I talking about? Oh, wait, I haven’t said anything yet. I hate when that happens. In any case, I am sitting here like so much fish after finishing season one of The Playboy Murders. The first episode was interesting, the second a bit less so, but after that the ties to Playboy are tenuous at best. Just because someone posed for Playboy or was a bunny at the club and then she or people she knows are involved in a crime over fifteen years later, doesn’t mean it has anything to do with Playboy. I’m not sure I need to see a second season. Earlier, I had lunch with one of the cast members of Together Again, Gracie Moore (who went by her real name when she did the show) – haven’t seen her in thirty-two years so it was really fun to catch up and hear what she’s been doing. Three kids, she still performs, and has moved back to LA to see what’s what here. She did a lot of shows up north near Santa Barbara or somewhere up that way, taught high school drama, and she seems happy. It was fun. We went to Mel’s. I had a cobb salad with ranch dressing, and she had a tuna melt and fries. All good. After that, I will admit to stopping at K’s Donuts for a couple of items. I came home and ate them and will probably pay the price during the night. I’m hoping not. Then I watched the rest of season one of The Playboy Murders. Earlier, like really earlier, I got about eight and a half hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, shaved and showered, and then it was time to go to the lunch. I did put up another song on Facebook, this time it was That Old Piano Roll, a cut song from Follies, with Harry Groener and Lynnette Perry doing the singing honors, orchestration by elmore, and tapping by Niki Harris. I’m just amazed how okay the album sounds. We didn’t really know what we were doing but I can’t find much fault with it other than the fact that we only had three strings that we had to keep doubling and tripling. And boy was that a well-cast album, with The Plaids, Marilyn Cooper, Jason Graae, Davis Gaines, Crista Moore, Sally Mayes, Kaye Ballard, Debbie Gravitte, Walter Willison, Rebecca Luker, Judy Kuhn, Liz Callaway – we really came out swinging, I must say and did say and may say again.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven or thereabouts, I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I’m lunching with Richard Sherman and daughter, so that will obviously be a highlight of the day, then I’ll go to the mail place and see what’s what, then I’ll come home, do some writing, and then watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be a ME day and I’m still hoping to get the photo section so I can send in the book or send in the clowns or send in something. Next week will be very busy with many things happening and hopefully some of the good things.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven or thereabouts, do whatever needs doing, lunch with Richard Sherman and daughter, go to the mail place, write, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite fast food jernts and which have you never tried and why? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have caught up with an old friend.
