A LITTLE CHRISTMAS MUSIC IN MARCH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s currently Christmas in March, thanks to Mr. Ormandy’s Christmas album. Hark! the Harold Angels Sing – which is why Harold Angels has disappeared – that happens when someone is a stoolie. March is winding down and soon it will be April, a time not only for fools, but for April Love and April in Paris, which is why I’ll Remember April and if it rains, I’ll remember April Showers. In the meantime, it’s still March so all that is a moot point, and we cannot have enough moot points. Otherwise, I spent a couple of hours watching video about the Ruby Franke case and sentencing, yet another example how screwed up this world is – a YouTuber who had two million subscribers and over a billion views, which means she was making a TON of money, all the while abusing her children. She and the woman who abetted her, Jodi Hildebrandt, were arrested when Ruby’s young son escaped their 10,000 square foot home in Utah and went to a nearby house and got help. Well, she and her lady friend are now convicted and sentenced and will be in jail for hopefully many years to come. I also watched some irritating videos and some chimpanzee videos. I normally doze off, but I didn’t last night. It was an uneventful day filled with uneventful uneventfulness. I got six hours of sleep, and the day actually began with a delightful call from an old pal, John Holly, and it was great fun to catch up with him. He’s in the book and he’d just bought a copy on Amazon. We yakked for an hour. I waffled back and forth whether to order some food, but in the end I made two hot dogs and they were fine. Later, I made an English muffin and plopped two over medium eggs on it, one on each half. That was fine, too, if not a little boring. Otherwise, I just had a few pieces of red licorice and that was about it for food. I did a few things on the computer, but basically just relaxed and did a little organizing of this and that as well as that and this, not necessarily in that order.

Today, I’ll be up by ten or so, as I want to watch a couple of online auctions, which I’ve been doing recently, just to see what prices things are fetching these days. What’s really fascinating to me is to see what people go after and what they don’t go after, and what things go for their opening bid and what goes above the high estimates, and what gets bidding wars. One of the two I’ll be watching this morning has a lot of show business stuff in it, so that will be interesting, and the other is yet more Playboy stuff from the Hefner estate – lots of original art and if I had unlimited funds, I would absolutely grab a couple of paintings. But even from the time I looked at stuff yesterday, bids have gone way up. I wonder who the winners are – they have to pay a twenty percent premium, tax, AND shipping. It’s a little nutty. I’ll eat at some point, I’ll do whatever needs doing, and then I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I’m attending an opening night, so I may dine out near the theater – we’ll see how I feel – and then the weekend is unknown to me at this time.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten or so, watch auctions, eat, and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Have you ever attended an auction or done an online auction and, if so, did you have a winning bid? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be having a little musical Christmas in March.
