THE LAST OF APRIL

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I can hardly believe it but today is the last of April. Not the last of Sheila, mind you, no, the last of April. And from this I have deduced, oh, yes, I have deduced that tomorrow will be a new month, namely May, and it is my fervent hope and prayer that May will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. Other than that, I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I really must try to get a decent amount of sleep. As I write these here notes, I am listening to Mahler’s seventh symphony, my preferred recording by Mr. Leonard Bernstein on Columbia. I don’t know the seventh as well as I know most of the others but I’m enjoying hearing it again. Prior to listening, I dozed off for an hour, then began watching a motion picture entitled Slow Dancing in the Big City, starring Paul Sorvino. I’m about twenty minutes in and I don’t think I’ve seen it before. I do remember having the soundtrack LP and really enjoying it – Bill Conti wrote the score – but the movie was a huge flop, and it never had a home video release until just a couple of years ago. So far, it’s merely okay, but the Conti music is still nice. I have the CD out in the garage somewhere. If it’s somewhere that’s easy to find, I’ll transfer it to Music. Earlier still, it took quite a while for me to fall asleep and it only lasted a couple of hours. I got up, did the writing I needed to do and get music for the Kritzerland show to the singers. At around nine, I went back to bed, finally fell asleep and got up at one. I guess I got around six hours of non-consecutive sleep. I answered e-mails and had some telephonic conversations, then I made some pasta with pink sauce – I made less pasta than usual, only about four ounces, and it was very good but not that filling. Then I had a working phoner with David Wechter – we’re tweaking a couple of things on the script we wrote last year – minor stuff, but helpful. At around six, I got a small Caesar from CPK and that arrived and was very good. They normally don’t include bread, but there were a couple of small pieces, and they were very fresh and tasty. That was the food o’ the day. I watched a few irritating YouTube videos, then watched the first twenty minutes of Slow Dancing in the Big City, and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up at eight and out the door thirty minutes later. I’ll choose where to breakfast and do so, then I’ll go to the mail place and hopefully there’ll be two important envelopes there and there’s a small package that came on Sunday. After that, I’ll go to Gelson’s and get something light for later in the day. Then I’ll come home and do whatever needs doing, I’ll do a bit of writing, and then as soon as Catalina Bar and Grill gets us up on their site, I’ll announce the Kritzerland show and cast so we can start selling tickets. Then I’ll eat whatever the light thing is, after which I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be a new month with new and hopefully wonderful adventures and the return of our Kritzerland cabaret shows. The rest of the week will be meetings and meals, going and doing and doing and going, and catching up on stuff. What up is doing on stuff is anyone’s guess but I will damn well catch up on stuff and that’ll teach up a thing or two.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight and out the door thirty minutes later, I must breakfast, I’ll hopefully pick up two important envelopes and a small package, I’ll stop at Gelson’s for an early evening snack, come home and do whatever needs doing, write, announce the Kritzerland show and cast, eat the light early evening thing, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What were your favorite big roadshow movies and which was your first – you know – reserved seats, big screen, event. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as the last of April but not Sheila leads us into a sparkling new month.
