July 25, 2024:

A GOOD DAY, GOOD DAY-WISE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to one of my favorite Easy Listening albums from my Easy Listening childhood – Mantovani playing songs from Oliver and Stop the World – I Want Get Off. I played that album until I wore it out, usually sitting on my bed just like Benjamin Kritzer, lights off, letting the wonderful stereophonic sound wash over me. I’m also fending off an allergy attack which I’m pretty sure was brought on by having to have the air conditioning on so much yesterday. I have taken a Claritin-D, which seems to be kicking in, and most importantly, I’ve spent the last ninety minutes writing some of what will be my new book for 2025. As you know, I like to write about ten pages in advance of January 1, and that’s what I did – seven of the ten pages and I know I’m going to really enjoy writing this one. Next year may end up being a two-book year, because the one I’m working on now will probably write itself quickly and I don’t really anticipate it being more than a couple hundred actual book pages. Of course, the last time I said that was for Kritzer World, which I thought would be a novella but ended up being around 350 pages. So, we shall see. I did not watch any motion pictures but did watch a couple of dog grooming videos. Why, I have not idea. Also some irritating YouTube videos, one of which happened to take place near where dear reader George lives. Otherwise, yesterday was quite a good day, good day-wise. I got ten hours of excellent sleep, got up, answered e-mails, had telephonic call with David Wechter, which was a good call, good call-wise, then I got a modern major miracle and that was great, and hopefully more will be coming. I ordered the lunch special from California Pizza Kitchen – teeny-tiny side Caesar salad and a seven-inch pepperoni and sausage pizza consisting of four teeny-tiny one-bit slices. That was all very good and well under my daily calorie count. I know this because CPK gives you the calorie count on all their items. After that, I did more organizing, had a long telephonic call in which I tried to be a motivator for someone who’s struggling to be motivated. All during the day, I kept having to turn on the air conditioning to cool down the house. I did sit on my couch for a bit, watching YouTube stuff, then I did some research on the Internet, wrote a bit, and here we are at the end of another day, day-wise.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll have a telephonic conversation with David Wechter at eleven-thirty, then at noon o’clock we have a conference call, so that will be fun. After that, I’ll order something to eat, probably a sandwich of some sort, I’d imagine, then I may do just a bit more writing, and then do more organizing, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow and the weekend are anyone’s guess, although I do know a package is waiting for me at the mail place – shampoo – and I have to do some banking, but I’m thinking Saturday can be a ME day, and Sunday I think I’m seeing a matinee of a little musical that features the daughter of John Sawoski, the man who’s been musical directing the last few Kritzerland shows. Then next week is busy and on Wednesday we do our work session for the Kritzerland show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, have a call at eleven-thirty, a conference call at noon o’clock, eat, write, organize, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What, for you, are the most quotable lines from your favorite motion pictures? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a good day, day-wise.
