THE EVELYN WOOD SPEED WRITING NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am hell bent on seeing just how fast I can write these here notes. I thought that would be a fun exercise, and heaven knows when the last time I had actual exercise. Yes, I’m talkin’ about Evelyn Wood Speed Writing Notes here. I’m talkin’ about faster than a speeding bullet notes, I’m talkin’ about Speedy Gonzalez notes, I’m talkin’ about bat out of HELL notes, I’m talkin’ about fast food notes and I’m NOT talkin’ about slow-cooked notes. So, hold on to your hats, dear readers, and here we go. Last night I watched two motion pictures – The Stepfather 3, the third and final sequel to The Stepfather. Well, the third time definitely wasn’t the charm, what with a new leading man (same character as the first two films but with some really amazing plastic surgery, which is the prologue to the movie. The leading man is no Terry O’Quinn but I will give him props for kind of getting Terry’s voice cadence down pretty well. Otherwise, it’s the same exact movie as the first two movies, but done with inept direction, much more graphic and stupid violence, and risible dialogue. It was, in a speeding word, horrible. Then I decided to wash away the bad taste with the original The Stepfather and I’m glad I did. It’s a minor classic that could have been a major classic with a great musical score by someone like Jerry Goldsmith or someone of his ilk. The synth score is of no help to the movie at all – it doesn’t kill it, but it does make it feel less consequential than it actually is. The casting is, with one notable exception, great. O’Quinn could not be better, Jill Schoelen is great, even Shelly Hack comes off really well. The supporting roles are fine save for the one notable exception. I won’t name him, but it’s a character trying to find out where the man who murdered his sister and her family is and to catch him. His wardrobe is as silly as he is and it’s the one fail on the part of the director – otherwise, it’s a really well directed movie. The story is credited to Carolyn Lefcourt and Brian Garfield, and sole screenplay goes to Donald E. Westlake, a wonderful writer. According to Wikipedia, a very unreliable source, there was an uncredited rewrite by someone I never heard of. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it, it comes highly recommended by the likes of me.

Whew, that was fast. Continuing on. Yesterday was a fine day except for the fact that the coil didn’t arrive and the home environment is VERY warm. I got ten hours of sleep, despite the noise of the tree people finishing up, I had a nice modern major miracle – a few more would be lovely and helpful. I did a quick bank visit, picked up a small package at the mail place, came home, had my good roasted garlic chicken pasta from The Cheesecake Factory – it was good. I did a few things on the computer, had some nice telephonic calls, watched the movies, and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll choose songs, eat, and then at some point watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow and the weekend are unknown to me at this time, but hopefully the coil will have arrived sooner than later.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, choose songs, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite fast food jernts and what do you like best? Let’s have loads of lovely notes, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, having written the Evelyn Wood Speed Writing Notes.
