WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE T?

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late and I must write these here notes in a hurry because the opening night play was long and then there was an afterparty and I didn’t get home until 11:40 and just beginning these here notes at 11:58. The play was by someone named Agatha Christie, based on her Hercule Poirot book, The Hollow, but without Hercule Poirot. Neither book nor play are amongst her best, but it’s always fun to watch the mechanics of her work. Some nice performances, but hoping they pick up the pace as performances progress. The play ran about two hours and thirty minutes with intermission. Set was very nice, too. The party was fun, and I chatted with quite a few folks. Unfortunately, the older actress in the show slipped and fell at the party and banged herself up pretty good. An ambulance was called, and I think they took her to the hospital just to make sure there was nothing broken. Hoping she’ll be fine and able to do the rest of the weekend performances. Otherwise, yesterday was okay. I got a little over eight hours of sleep, decided not to go to the mail place, answered e-mails, and then moseyed on over to next door and got my hair cut. She did a nice job and I feel ever so much better coiffed. Then I went to Gelson’s and got a piece of fried cod (small piece), three chicken tenders, and two teriyaki drumettes, came home and ate all that and it was all good and VERY calorie friendly, probably not even 700 all in. After that, I did some work on the computer, had some telephonic conversations, and then sat on my couch like so much fish, watched some irritating YouTube videos, shaved, and then moseyed on over to the theater and opening night. One of the MOST irritating things about many of the irritating YouTube videos and any movies or videos these days is the disappearing “t”s. When did that become a thing? It is completely obnoxious, and every young person seems to be doing it. So, we now get Manha-en for Manhattan, we get kihen for kitten, waher for water. I just don’t get it – it’s lazy and why? It’s so hard to say kitten or water or Manhattan? I’d say I’d like to throttle people who do it, but they wouldn’t understand throttle unless I said thrahel. Anyone else been noticing it?

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll have me a ME day, I’ll go to the mail place, I’ll eat something fun, maybe do a bit of writing, but mostly I need to rest and be lazy and watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be more of that exact same thing sans the trip to the post office. Monday is our first Kritzerland rehearsal, part one – should last from two to three-thiry or thereabouts. Part two happens on Tuesday from four to seven-thirty. Prior to part two, I’m having a lunch with our very own Donald Feltham and an old friend of ours from way back in 2000. Wednesday is mine, Thursday is our second rehearsal in one part, a long day from two to seven-thirty. Friday is mine, Saturday is our stumble-through, and Sunday is sound check and show and then hopefully a nice meal somewhere fun afterwards.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, have a ME day, go to the mail, pace, eat something fun, maybe do a bit of writing, rest and be lazy, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: The dropping of the T’s and other lazy language bad habits. What annoys you? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall drop not a single T.
