YESTERDAY WAS CERTAINLY YESTERDAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, after getting only four hours of sleep due to the home environment being eighty-two degrees, after about eight tries, the air finally blew sort of cold, and I got the house cooled down to 72. That took about seven hours. It’s now back up to 76 but it doesn’t really feel like it, so hopefully I’ll get some sleep. Why am I talking about sleep when I’m trying to write these here notes whilst awake? Cockeyed, if you ask me, rather like me in real life with my current eyeball issue, as you’ll see when I post some photographs in a bit. Yesterday was certainly yesterday, I think it’s safe to say that. As mentioned, I only got four hours of sleep, was up just before ten, answered e-mails, then moseyed on over to the bank to deposit a check. That took fifteen minutes. Then I came home and ordered Panda Express – my usual one plate thing – two things of orange chicken, white rice, and chow mein. Very good. I also get a great fortune and we’ll just hope and pray it comes true – that would be a modern major miracle for sure. After that, I just needed to relax whilst the house cooled down. I wasn’t ready to choose songs or do much of anything else – I needed a real day off and I may or may not need another today. So, I did stuff on the Internet, watched a few irritating YouTube videos, tried to find something to watch and didn’t, watched more irritating YouTube videos, including an actress who now does YouTube videos about her career and working with luminaries. With bit headlines about meeting Woody Allen, her intense experience working with a big star, filming a scene with George C. Scott, her rollercoaster audition for Martin Scorsese, and lots of tips on the show business. I watched a few and all was not what it appeared to be in the descriptions. First of all, I looked her up and she has like ten or eleven credits total and most of it is clearly extra work or under-fives or one line. So, meeting Woody Allen turns out to be she goes to an open call, she and others pass in front of Woody, she says he smiled at her, and that was meeting Woody. Well, really? With George C. Scott, she was a non-speaking extra who happened to be seated next to him. He said hello to her. She said hello back. She wanted to talk to him but started crying every time she tried because he’d played Patton and he reminded her of her dad, who apparently served with Patton at some point. With the big star, she was hired to help him with his lines. With Scorsese, the rollercoaster audition for was being taken to the set (or “taken to set” as these actors like to say – no “the” for them), put on tape quickly (under five lines), and asked to wait while Mr. Scorsese privately watched the tapes. He did. She didn’t get chosen. I’m glad she’s found a way to put herself out there on YouTube, and she gets nice comments, but I’ll never really understand that kind of thing. I had a pretty good acting career, and I certainly would never make YouTube videos about any of it. Books are one thing – oh, and she’s written volume one of her life story – 103 pages and unavailable. Oh well, what do I know about anything? Oh, here’s what I know – photographs to share, that I know all about. Here they come. First is little powerhouse Sadie Reynolds doing Spelling Backwards.

Elena Bertacchi and Benji Katzke doing BFF from Sami. Oh, and I wrote a new second bridge for it, too.

Sophie Petersen doing Annie.

Marissa Margolis doing Journey to the Past

Sadie again, doing 44 Sunsets.

Zander Chin doing Nerd.

Talia Doyle doing Beautiful City/Day by Day.

Aaron Chao doing The Candy Man/Think Positive

Daniel Peters and Zander Chin doing Agony.

Here I am with Sadie.

Finally, here I am with Aaron.

Weren’t those fun? Anyway, that was about it for yesterday.

Today, I’ll be up whenever the tree people I arrive to remove a humungous but dead as a doornail tree in the yard, which is going to take most of the day. The air conditioning person will come today or tomorrow – I’m guessing tomorrow. I can’t leave while the tree work is being done, but they should be through by three, in case I need to go to the mail place to pick up something. I’ll obviously order in for food. If I’m feeling refreshed, I might try to start choosing songs. I’m sure the tree stuff will be loud and insufferable, not necessarily in that order. In any case, when all is said and done, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I’ll start choosing songs in earnest, I’ll try to book one more gal for the anniversary show, I’ll pray for more modern major miracles and I’ll do whatever needs doing. The rest of the week is more of the same and some meetings and meals and telephonic calls – all the usual stuff. Not sure what’s the haps on the weekend at this point.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when the tree people arrive, endure the noise, find out if the A/C man is coming, eat, check with the mail place to see what’s what and if what is what I may drive over there – I have to ship a small package anyway. I may start choosing songs and figuring out who our third gal will be, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite YouTube discoveries over the years? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, looking forward to today as a day that won’t be a yesterday that was certainly yesterday.
