Well, dear readers, we had us such a fun first rehearsal for the anniversary Kritzerland show. Always on the first rehearsal, I just mostly sit and listen and see what everyone is doing. Any directing happens on the second rehearsal. First to arrive was Adrienne Stiefel, who were now calling by her married name, O’Malley. That’s two O’Malleys in the show. She ran her three solos, two beautiful ballads and one comic number, and then Robert Yacko joined us. They ran their duet, which opens the show, Adrienne left, and Robert ran his three solos – one beautiful ballad and two comic numbers. Then it was Kerry O’Malley – she sang through her one beautiful ballad, one great up-tempo, and one Kimmel song – a comic number. After that, Anastasia Barzee came. She’s new to us and boy is she great – she’s doing two numbers – one beautiful ballad and one very amusing What If. After she left, the lovelier than lovely Jason Graae arrived. He’s also doing two numbers – one ballad with some humor and one comic song. Since Bruce Vilanch isn’t coming until tomorrow, Jason hung out with Jerry Sternbach and me. Finally, it was Ava Madison Gray – we ran her duet with Guy Haines – he couldn’t make it, so I filled in for him – and then her solo, a ballad that actually ends the show. Tomorrow, we add in Bruce Vilanch. I must say that everyone was very prepared, so that was nice. After that, I watched a few irritating YouTube videos and then just relaxed and rested my tired voice, due to too little sleep. I did not watch the debate but will check out the reaction and maybe some highlights. Earlier, I’d only gotten about four hours of sleep. I tried for more, to no avail. Once up, I answered e-mails, I had Panda Express for food, I shaved and showered, and then we had our rehearsal. I had one long, weird telephonic call and that was about it. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll basically relax and rest my voice, finesse the commentary, eat, I think I’ll save the bookstore visit for another day, I’ll do some work at the piano, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is our second Kritzerland rehearsal, Friday is unknown at this time, Saturday is unknown at this time, Sunday will be a ME day, Monday is our stumble-through and Wednesday is sound check and show.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, relax and rest my voice, finesse the commentary, eat, do some work at the piano, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a fun first rehearsal.
