THE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE FINALLY WORKS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here listening to one of my favorite pieces of music ever written, which I fell in love with upon hearing it for the very first time about thirty-five years ago. And what is this favorite piece of music? One of I’ve written about many times – Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, the orchestral version. This music simply puts me away. It turns my brain to jelly. So these here notes may be like brain jelly. If you’ve never heard this, hie yourself to the Tube of You and find the version conducted by Richard Hickox on Chandos. You can thank me later. I didn’t watch a motion picture last night – in fact, I didn’t do much of anything because my tummy was bothering me – I believe the culprit was an apple I ate a couple of hours prior to the nausea. In fact, the day and evening were weirdly weird – nothing bad, really, just weirdly weird. The day did begin well. I got up at ten and called a doctor I’d found that was on United Health Care AND Cedars. But she isn’t taking any new patients. Then, surprisingly, as I was researching other possibilities, the woman from United Health Care called me back, apologized for the delay. I told her I’d been researching, and we went through a few names and she called a couple of candidates (I really wanted Cedars, so that whittled down quite a few on the United site – I went to the Cedars site and saw the ones that were with United). I didn’t really care for any of the candidates who were close by. So, I found a male doctor in Beverly Hills that sounded great, it said he was accepting new patients, so the United gal called him, got me registered there and I’ll be getting yet another new card. This doesn’t go into effect until October 1, which is fine. After that, I called to the doctor and got his really friendly receptionist, and she was just terrific. She gave me the first available appointment – she said we should do a complete physical and since I haven’t had one in twenty-five-years or so, I said okay. First available appointment wasn’t until November 26 – but she also put me on a waiting list in case something opens up sooner, which she said happens frequently. She sent me a link to a thing for the computer where all my info shows up, and then the name of another app that I have to download to the computer and the phone. That one enables me to have a virtual visit with a doctor at any time, so she suggested I do that on October 1 so I could get the referral to the eye doctor I want to go to, so that part will proceed without having to wait until the end of November. So, finally, everything should work well now. Whew! And I like having a doctor in Beverly Hills – it’s posh. It’s actually at the corner of Wilshire and Robertson, very close to where I grew up, so that’s fun and there are lots of fun jernts around there for food. It’s only a twenty-minute drive, too.

After that, I answered e-mails, then went to the framing place to get plexiglass for a wonderful piece that was gifted to me recent – it’s an interesting story, which I’ll tell when I get it back in a couple of weeks. Then I went to the mail place and picked up a small package. After that, I went to Gelson’s and got a Caesar salad (no chicken) – they were having a two for one sale, so I got two of ‘em. I came home and ate one and it was very good. Then I relaxed and rested my voice. I had two English muffins for my evening snack and that was pretty much it thanks to the bad apple I ate after that. And here we are.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, but mostly I’ll be having a ME day except for finally finessing the commentary. I’ll eat something fun, I’ll probably mosey on over to the mail place, and then I’m just being lazy and having a day and evening in which I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is more of the same, then Monday is our late afternoon stumble-through. Tuesday is a ME day, mostly resting my voice. Wednesday is sound check and show.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let’s dance the Hora or the Twist, for today is the birthday of our very own singdaw. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own singdaw. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN SINGDAW!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, have a ME day except for finessing the commentary, I’ll eat, go to the mail place, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: For anyone who’s on Medicare or Medicare Advantage, did you do a supplemental for dental? If so, how does that work and what does it cover and cost? Hey, there’s a song in the making – Supplemental for Dental. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that the insurance thing is finally going to work.
