September 1, 2024:

TRY TO REMEMBER THE KIND OF SEPTEMBER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news so hold onto your hats, hold your hat and hallelujah, hats off, here it comes: It is September. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is September, and it is my fervent hope and prayer that September will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. Couldn’t we all just use a month with nothing but modern major miracles? I think so. Also, did anyone notice how many hats there were in the opening of these here notes? Really. Does anyone still wear a hat? But as I write these here notes, it’s still not quite September but it will BE September as soon as I post them. But for now, let’s talk about yesterday, shall we, or what will BE yesterday when it is today. I did manage to sleep through most of a movie it turns out I’d already seen back in 2017, a perfectly dreadful waste of celluloid entitled The Good Neighbor. They promise you a modern tech age version of Rear Window and tell you Alfred Hitchcock would be proud. No, Alfred Hitchcock would vomit on the ground at this abomination that wishes it was within a country four hundred miles of Rear Window. At the center of this tripe are two of the most obnoxious teen idiots you’ve ever seen. THAT is who were asked to spend an entire movie with. They “think” neighbor James Caan is up to no good – they plant video cameras all over his house and also rig stuff so that doors slam, and other noises occur. It is vile behavior, so what exactly is this movie saying? Are we supposed to give a flying Wallenda about these idiots, no matter WHAT they find next door? The writer and the director are beyond inept for reasons I won’t go into. And when we find out what Caan has really been up to, we only hate the two kids even more. Who gives these amateurs money? The ONLY decent thing in the entire sorry film is Caan, a total pro. I went back and read what I wrote back in 2017 – I hated it then, and I hated the forty minutes I saw of it last night. I give it no stars and two bleccchs. Prior to that, I saw a play and it really wasn’t my cuppa so there’s no reason to go on about it. Prior to THAT, I got about seven hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, shaved, had a chopped Eyetalian salad from California Pizza Kitchen, moseyed on over to the mail place where the second important envelope was nowhere to be found, which means the soonest it arrives is Tuesday, but there was a surprise envelope that I thought wouldn’t be here for a week, so that was a very nice surprise. Then I went and saw the play.

After, I stopped at Rite Aid and got cherry chocolate chip ice cream and a single scoop in a cup of coconut pineapple. Once home, I had the scoop and just a tiny bit of the cherry chocolate chip. I ordered from an old Valley jernt called Ernie’s Taco House – just a taco and two tiny taquitos – they arrived and were a good evening snack. Then I watched the movie and here we are.

Today is completely a ME day in which I will do nothing but ME things because I’ve gotta be ME, I’ve gotta be ME, what else can I be but what I am? What am I, Steve Lawrence all of a sudden? Where was I? Oh yes, today. I’ll eat something amusing, perhaps some pasta of my own making, but mostly I’ve gotta be ME – IF I do pasta, it will require a Gelson’s run, so we shall see. Otherwise, I’m just gonna watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is the last of the Labor Day weekend and will be a day without Labor. Then Tuesday, it’s back to working on the Kritzerland show, having a work session, some meetings and meals, and doing whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a ME day, I’ll eat something fun, maybe do a Gelson’s run and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as we try to remember the kind of September, the kind of September loaded with modern major miracles, and it is my fervent prayer that September will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
