Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much tired fish, tummy slightly upset and nauseous, listening to the beautiful violin concert of British composer E.J. Moeran. It’s soothing in its way and given the state of the tummy, soothing is good. Even the Pepcid don’t seem to be helping. Hopefully, it will subside before too long – that would be a good thing because, frankly, who needs it? Actually, why is that a question – who needs it? Who DOES need it, so it’s a statement and let me tell you, who can have it. Since I once again could not find a single motion picture I felt like watching – although I did watch fifteen minutes of Coogan’s Bluff, but it’s really not one of my favorite Clint movies and I just got tired of it – I’ll just cut to the damn chase and dive right into the day that was yesterday, or, as we like to say around these here parts – if it’s Tuesday it must be Tuesday. Redundant, yes, but accurately accurate. For some reason that I do not understand, I woke up at five in the morning after four hours of sleep. And I could not go back to sleep. So, I answered some e-mails and relaxed, and then got ready to vamoose. She of the Evil Eye arrived, and I went to Bea-Bea’s for breakfast with our very own Robert Yacko. I tried something new – their chili, cheese, and onion omelet – it was pretty good, but not as good as Jerry’s Deli in days of old, mostly because this had beans – never mentioned on the menu – and the beans just add a weird texture. But I enjoyed it and the hash browns that came with it. Robert goes there so often that the waitress just said, “The usual?” and he replied, “Yes.” I’m not sure what all is in his omelet, but he sure does like it. Unusually, it wasn’t very crowded. We normally sit outside, but it was quite chilly, so we did inside. After that, I drove over to CVS in the City of Studio and got more Claritin-D and a few other necessaries. Then I went to Gelson’s and it was good that I did, because they’re having a Diet Coke sale – $5.99 for a twelve-pack, as long as you buy two. I bought four and saved twenty bucks in the bargain. Don’t we love when that happens? I do. So far, these notes are putting me to sleep. I must liven things up right now. I must get off my high horse and find a horse of a different color, perhaps a gift horse whose mouth I won’t look into, or better yet, perhaps a horse I can change mid-stream. So many options. There, that perked things up a bit – I suppose I could perk them up a bit more by telling the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Hard Salami. That one’s a corker.
I came home, recorded two of the four songs and they came out pretty well, I think, so perhaps I’ll try the other two today at some point. After that, I did more organizing in the book room, found out that a potential set designer can’t do the show, so we’re still on the hunt – it should not be this hard, frankly, and yet it is. In the later afternoon, I ordered a BLTA from Paty’s coffee shop. It arrived and was really excellent. I had some potato salad as my side. After that, I had a little cherry chocolate chip ice cream for my sweet treat. That was it for food. Then I spent a bit of time trying to find a damn movie, but not one thing was to my liking. I’m hoping we start getting our DGA online screener things soon. And that was pretty much it and here we are, writing to the strains of E.J. Moeran.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven or thereabouts, I’ll do whatever needs doing, and then I shall mosey on over to a nearby jernt to have a lunch with David Wechter and that will be fun, after that I’ll check with the mail place, although I’m not really expecting anything, then I’ll come home, maybe record two songs if I’m in decent voice, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is more of the same, then we’re into the weekend, which holds several possible possibilities, and I really must finish choosing songs for the holiday show and get people their music, and I really must pray for a very needed modern major miracle.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven or thereabouts, do whatever needs doing, have a lunch with David Wechter, check with the mail place, come home and record two songs, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you can ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have perked up the notes a little.
