Well, dear readers, it is late so I must write these here notes in a hurry or chaos could ensue, the entire universe could turn both topsy-turvy and turvy-topsy and we mustn’t have that, we must have order and stability in this unstable world in which we live. Well, that was a mouthful of something or other, wasn’t it? That was just a mouthful of words without purpose and yet they served a purpose in that I’m now writing the eighth line of these here notes and have just gone to line nine, a fine, fine line, a Valentine of a line, a divine line that’s pickled in brine. I don’t know what the HELL I’m talking about, but what else is new? And let’s put it this way – I watched no motion pictures yesterday. There, I’ve said it and I’m glad. I did get about six hours of sleep during which I slept. Once finally up, I answered the usual number of e-mails, had a telephonic conversation that was interesting for reasons I no longer remember, did an ATM run, showered, worked at the piano and sang and played through everything several times, and then it was time to have a nice dinner at the Coral Café before seeing a show. Unfortunately, all that got screwed up, I had to order a California Roll to tide me over until after the show, and then I went to the show. Last night, I saw a show, an old-fashioned melodrama – you know – hiss the villain, cheer the hero – that kind of thing. It was a fun show with songs, the smallish audience seemed to have a good time, and it wasn’t too too long. I’ve really only experienced one melodrama, which was a very popular one that I did in 1970 for a few months, the long-running The Drunkard, in which I sang the infamous Pussy in the Bag song – I have to think that I got some laughs out of it that no one else had, if you get my meaning. It was fun to do, and they don’t really do them much anymore, I must say and have said. After the show, I came directly home and as soon as I got in the house I ordered some actual food – a chopped Eyetalian salad from CPK. It’s never a great idea to order just before they close, because they just want to get out of there, and so the salad wasn’t chopped enough, and it had much less protein in it than usual. But it was good, and I really needed some food in the tummy. By the time I finished, what do you know – it was time to write these here notes without delay or dillying or dallying or shillying or shallying, not necessarily in that order.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I got another 50% off coupon for Uber Eats, so I’ll either do Kabuki or Crustacean or something fun like that. Although, what I’d really like to do is go have a nice meal in a restaurant, but that will happen on Monday. I’ll work at the piano, do whatever needs doing, check with the mail place, and then I’ll watch the latest Patrice Leconte movie from 2022 – Maigret – which I’m really looking forward to. After that, I may try for another movie.
Tomorrow can be a ME day, then this coming week is very busy – several meetings and meals to attend, have to finish choosing songs and get everyone their music, get a flyer done for the holiday show – all that kind of thing.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, I’ll order food from a nice place on Uber Eats, work at the piano, check in with the mail place, watch a movie or two, and then listen and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What old-fashioned melodramas have you seen? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have gotten the notes written so the world will not go topsy-turvy or turvy-topsy.
