Well, dear readers, I am happy to report that we did have a much-appreciated calmer day yesterday and I’m hoping we can have another today. I got eight and a half hours of good sleep, got up at 11:30, woke the computer up, and was greeted by a text saying payment one was ready to be retrieved, which was what I was praying for and all your most excellent vibes and xylophones work. Do send more for the second payment, which should hopefully come today. Anyway, they give you three options on how to retrieve it – you can have it wired, which takes two to three days, you can have a check mailed, which can take seven days, or you can have it put on your debit card, which takes minutes. Obviously, I chose the latter and I am here to tell you it took exactly forty-five seconds to hit the account. I then got dressed, went to the bank, transferred it all into the main account and then walked home. Once back home, I had a series of very long telephonic conversations with various and sundried people, so by the time I got around to making food it was already two-thirty. I made what turned out to be a really tasty chili, cheese, and onion omelet. Later in the day, I finished off the chili that was left. Then I had another long telephonic conversation and finally I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched another French movie from France entitled Revoir Paris, a moody character piece from 2022 that won lots of awards, about a gal who’s in the wrong place at the wrong time, a café, when terrorists show up and shoot up the place, killing many of the people there. She survives but has no memory of anything once the shooting began. And that’s the movie – her dealing with the trauma as memories start to come back to her and she meets with other survivors. It’s simply and well directed (the director’s brother was involved in a terrorist attack, a famous at the Bataclan Opera House – he survived, too – the film is dedicated to him. What makes it work as well as it does is the leading lady, Virginie Efira – I’ve never seen her before, but she’s a star there and has won many awards herself. She’s just great and she does it mostly in silence. But the entire cast is great, and there’s a young teen in it whose parents are killed in the attack, who finds the leading lady and their interactions are the most moving parts of the movie – that young gal is terrific. It’s not my kind of movie score, but in some way it works to give the film a dream-like feeling. There’s also a well-known Arvo Part piece in the beginning. It’s beautifully photographed and if you have Prime, it’s free and I recommend it.
After that, I got two small things from Panda Express, as I’d only eaten 700 calories – orange chicken and string bean chicken – no rice or noodles or anything, just two tiny containers and they were very good. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll pray for them to have gotten the title and that they’ll send me the second payment as quickly as the first, so do send those most excellent vibes and xylophones, please. Now, if what we’re praying for happens, then I walk to the bank and do the same transfer thing, walk home, and then I’ll Uber to the car place and get the motor car, which, I was surprised to see that it does come with a limited warranty for the engine and transmission – thirty days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first and since I barely drive 1,500 miles in a year, it will probably be six to nine months, so that’s always nice to have. So, the hope is I’ll drive home in the new motor car after we get all the paperwork done and after the nice fellow shows me the things that are different in this car. I already know how to put it in gear but want to make sure I know where the lights are (probably the same), and all that stuff. I also want to get the seat position I like memorized, so it always returns to it. Also, want to check the front and back lights to make sure all those are working, but they did a thorough servicing so I assume everything will be fine. If the motor needs gas, I’ll fill it up. Then I’ll stop at the mail place, get whatever’s there, pick up some food from somewhere – maybe Gelson’s if they have my creamy tomato soup – I’d get that and a salad – or whatever I’m in the mood for, I’ll pick up my dry cleaning and then come home. Then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow and Sunday, I’ll have ME days, but I’m hoping all days will be ME days until January 1. Of course, Tuesday is the Do, which I’m looking forward to, Wednesday is Christmas and I’ll have a visit with the Darling Daughter and that’s always a highlight, and then I rest and relax, do my usual New Year’s Eve thing as well as attend our very own Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Bash, the best place to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, pray that the second payment comes through as quickly as the first, and if the prayers are answered, I’ll bank, come home, and then Uber to the car place, get the motor car, stop at the mail place and pick up whatever’s there, get my dry cleaning, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? I’ll start – not a clew. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had part one go quickly and praying that part two goes quickly, too.
