Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news: I have made it through an entire day sans pasta, bread, sugar, rice, or other heavy carb things. Of course, if I had my motor car here, I do believe I’d drive right over to In ‘N’ Out for a burger, but I don’t so I won’t. Here’s the lowdown or the highup of food for yesterday. A pre-made small Cobb salad with Good Seasons Eyetalian dressing instead of the creepy ranch that was in the package. Not bad, not great, followed by a few grapes. Several hours later, another pre-made salad, this one a Caesar with chicken and their Caesar dressing. A tiny thing of the dressing, but I made do even though it wasn’t really enough. That was a better salad than the first one. That was followed by some blueberries. At that point, I was fully expecting my weight to drop by ten pounds, but it didn’t. I didn’t even feel healthier. Later, I had some cheese chunks with some small Hormel pepperoni slices – for a bit more protein. And that was it. If In ‘N’ Out used a delivery service, I’d be eating that as I type these here notes. But they don’t so I won’t. If I can keep this up for a few weeks, then perhaps I’ll be more normal for the couple of things where I was edging into a risk factor. I can’t do it forever. And I do have to have two upcoming days where I will have pasta because that’s what I make for the Do and that’s what the Darling Daughter and I eat the day after the Do, namely Christmas day. I did manage to watch three motion pictures, episodes two, three, and four of the Georges Simenon Mysteries, with each episode running ninety minutes. Episode one was very good, episode two was even better, episode three was absolutely fantastic, and episode four was not as good as the other three. I wouldn’t really call these mysteries as they’re really psychological stories that perhaps have a mystery embedded in them. Of the four I’ve watched, according to what I’ve read about them, the only one that’s really true to the book it’s based on was episode three, The Iron Staircase. I’m looking forward to the last two episodes and it’s a shame it didn’t get a second series. The acting is really superb in every episode and the behind-the-scenes work is top-notch. If you like these kinds of things, these come highly recommended by the likes of me, and you can see them all for free by doing the seven-day free trial for MHz – or you can rent them on Prime for $1.99.
Other than that, it was a day of nothingness, save for a bit more research, a couple of telephonic calls, seven and a half hours of sleep, mailing a few Christmas cards, and organizing things that need organizing.
Today, I’ll be up by ten-thirty and out the door by eleven-thirty. I’ll walk to a nearby restaurant where I’m meeting someone for lunch at noon o’clock. After that, I’ll walk home, do more organizing, eat a small salad for my second meal, have more blueberries, and then watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow starts my official two weeks off, all ME days doing whatever I feel like doing. I will have to get to the mail place at some point, as I’m sure there are things I need to get. I can’t really walk that, though – over six miles between the going and coming back. I have some tasks to complete but basically, I just want to clear my head and get prepared for writing a new book, casting Drat! The Cat! getting the open MRI or cat scan, seeing the eye surgeon again, and then going into rehearsal for Drat. And, of course, the Annual Christmas Eve Do and our New Year’s Rockin’ Eve partay right here at haineshisway.com.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten-thirty, have a lunch, organize, eat later in the day, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be on the road to eating a little healthier, although I could really use an In ‘N’ Out burger right about now.
