Well, dear readers, let me just say this: “This.” That was fun. Now let me say petunia. “Petunia.” That was even more fun, but I’ve always loved my favorite singer, Petunia Clark. We don’t allow groaning here at haineshisway.com. In other news, there is no other news. I watched no movie, I listened to no music, I danced no Lambada (The Forbidden Dance), I did no Limbo. So, what the HELL did I do? That is the question. To be or not to be is NOT the question so don’t even ask it. Well, I did get eight hours of sleep, arising at noon o’clock. I did answer very many e-mails, I did think about writing new book entitled The Silence of the Lambadas, and I thought about a Baumkuchen. I did go to the mail place and pick up a small package that was small. I did get two mild chicken breasts from Popeye’s. I did come home and eat those two damn chicken breasts and they were very good. And then I spent the day importing proofer two’s fixes. Many of them matched perfectly proofer one’s fixes, so a lot of it was already entered. I entered as many fixes as I could in terms of not having to run them by anyone. But I had a list for Muse Margaret, and I spent forty minutes on the phone with her going over all the questions and then making decisions on what we felt comfortable to do and then doing them, some of which required a creative solution to solve a problem. The piano tuner came and tuned the piano, which was horribly out of tune. I had to do it because one of the music rehearsals next week is here. Our very own Donald Feltham agreed to go to storage with me on Friday to find the Drat! The Cat! music charts box, so that will finally get done. Then proofer one called, and we went over some questions I had pertaining to proofer two’s notes – again, some creative solutions had to be found and I think what those solutions were were very helpful in terms of clarity. That took almost two and a half hours and I’m quite sure both of us were completely exhausted by the end of it, but it all worked out very well and the book can now go to the designers as soon as I’m done writing the acknowledgments and mocking up the front matter and first three chapters, so they have a guide. But this is the fourth book we’ve done so they pretty much have the template, and the only big change is the title treatment font which is used for the chapter headings. So, moving right along.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I have a haircut that I desperately need, eat, then I can finish the rehearsal schedule, do the three-chapter mock-up, and then watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, I have a lunch at noon-thirty, then will come right home and continue prep work for Drat! The Cat!, Friday will be the storage adventure and finding the Drat box, then later going through the score with our MD. Saturday and Sunday must be ME days and I don’t care who knows it.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, have a haircut, eat, finish the rehearsal schedule, do the chapter mock-up, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions, and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that round one of proofing is done.
