Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to nothing, pondering nothing, and eating nothing, not necessarily in that order. So, what if Bob Merrill and Jule Styne had written today’s notes? And it might go something like this.
Posting,
People who are posting,
Are the dear readers we love most of all.
With photos,
Posting lots of photos,
Elmore tells us about his cats,
Even when they have spats,
While BK says “Page five? Really?”
Freddie,
And Jrand, Laura, Vixmom,
They’re all posters who post posts day and night.
And Rodzinski,
And Iris, ChasSmith, Singdaw,
And Jeanne, Ginny, and Jane
With those three, you can’t complain.
KevinH and JohnG
For me they are people who are posters,
Pulliam is people,
MichaelG, George, and BK,
That’s our world!
I thought they did a fine job of mentioning most of our regular dear readers, don’t you. Yesterday, I got about seven hours of sleep, spent ninety minutes on the phone with proofer one going over stuff, twenty minutes on the phone with someone about this tape thing I mentioned, then went to the theater to pick up a script, stopped at the mail place and picked up nothing, came home, ordered a chili cheeseburger and chili cheese fries from Tommy’s, it arrived while I was on the phone with Muse Margaret going over a few things, so all of proofer one’s suggestions that we’ve used, which were most of them, have now been entered in the book, then I ate the burger, which wasn’t so great, and the chili cheese fries, which were merely okay. All of that was very exhausting. Then I answered e-mails, was contacted by someone who wanted to be in Drat!, a guy, so I said yes, sent him the show dates, and he can’t be there the last weekend. People come, people go, like Grand Hotel. We’re still looking for two to four more men. It shouldn’t be this damn hard.
Then I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched some of a documentary about Blood, Sweat, and Tears, the first rock and roll band to ever play behind the Iron Curtain and received a lot of flak for it. I kept dozing off, so I saved the rest of it, and then I sat there with the remote in my hand and just kept dozing off without ever actually clicking on anything. That went on for a whopping three hours. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll begin making a rehearsal schedule for the first three weeks of February. I can’t really think about staging things until I see the set sketches, which will hopefully be soon, I’ll check with the mail place, if there’s anything there I’ll go get it, I’ll get something to eat at Gelson’s most likely, perhaps tuna sandwiches might be amusing, then at some point I can watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is more of the same, a haircut on Wednesday, a lunch on Thursday, and then getting ready for our first week of rehearsals – music for three days, and then staging for one.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, begin making a rehearsal schedule, check with the mail place, get some food and liquid refreshment at Gelson’s, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite recipes for chili? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that Bob and Jule were with us for the notes.
