Well, dear readers, it is late and therefore I must write these here notes in a hurry. Today’s topic of discussion: Okay, maybe not THAT much of a hurry. That would be unseemly. Last night’s rehearsal was fun and a half. We staged the tag of one scene then moved to the main part of another and then onto the Today Is a Day for a Band to Play number – very long, number, too. Certain things I had planned but the thing just goes on and on and on, so we trimmed a little dance music. I’m sure on Broadway with a cast of forty-five, huge sets, and many dancers, Joe Layton did his thing. We have to do our thing with about fourteen people in this particular number. I thought it mostly came out well, but I’m sure I’ll do some finessing tonight, although tonight’s work is the final scene and the finale, so I must get that done. Anyway, we got it finished and lots of it is really fun. Prior to the start of rehearsal, Doug Haverty and I did an interview about the show. Prior to all that, I got eight and a half hours of sleep, got up, and had several telephonic conversations about our set. That took up about two hours. Then I had tacos from the nearby Mexican jernt and those were small but good. After that, I shaved and showered, stopped at the mail place and picked up a couple of small packages, then I moseyed on over to the theater and did our interview, then we had our rehearsal. I came right home and caught up on e-mails, and here we are. These are very boring notes. Perhaps I should tell the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Pudding. That one’s a corker. What else can I tell you? I won’t bore you with the details, but I got a thing from my car insurance saying my new yearly bill would be seventeen-hundred bucks more – a bit over $4,500. Well, not on your tintype, mister. I called and got a very snooty putz who told me it was what it was and I was welcome to look elsewhere and did I want him to cancel the policy right now. I told him to slow down and asked why it said I drive 12,000 miles a year, when I barely drive 1,500. He said we could change it but that the premium might well go up – did I want to take that chance. At that point, I’d had it with Little Miss Bitch and I had him put me through to Comparion to see about other options. But Comparion wasn’t picking up, so I was re-routed back to Safeco. This time I got a really nice woman and when I recounted my conversation with Little Miss Bitch, she was appalled and had no idea why he would have said a single word he said. I only wish I’d noted his name. I told her the same thing about the mileage. She instantly changed it to 1,500 miles and voila, my premium was just where it had been. I signed those papers immediately. Boy, would I love to have Little Miss Bitch fired.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll prep this evening’s rehearsal, I have to read something and make some notes, eat, and then I’ll mosey on over to the theater and hopefully finish blocking the show.
Tomorrow, Cheryl Baxter is coming for the first thirty minutes to see the Band number and perhaps zhuzh it up a bit. Then we start with act one and begin assembling the show and assigning all the scene shifts. We’ll get as far as we can. Friday, we have off, then it’s a new month and we pick up assembling the show and finish that. Then Sunday and Monday are ME days, then we begin run-throughs.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, prep the rehearsal, read and make notes, eat, and then finish blocking the show. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers, and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had another productive rehearsal rehearsing.
