Well, dear readers, it was back to rehearsal last night – basically running all the group numbers, getting them tighter, cleaning up, and drilling. We also ran the second scene of the play. When this stuff is clean and sharp it is so much fun to watch. Right now, it’s all about retention – that’s the hardest part, always knowing what comes next and being in your mind one beat ahead so that you’re prepared for it. It was fun. My set designer was there for a while, and I now know the layout pretty well and she understands my needs. The playing space we’ve been working within will work fine, as her set will allow us even a tiny bit more room. Also chatted with our faboo costume designer. Prior to that, I got seven hours of very deep sleep, got up, she of the Evil Eye arrived and I joined Robert Yacko for breakfast, and we had a nice chat, catching up. We were there for about ninety minutes. Then I went to Macy’s and did the return and then came home. I ordered another pair of pants to replace the one I’d returned and hopefully this one will fit. Then it was volley after volley of e-mails, all having to do with Drat! The Cat! We got several orders for the new book, so that was a good thing, and hopefully more will be coming soon. Then I geared up for rehearsal. After rehearsal, I stopped at Gelson’s and got the one thing I need for Wacky Noodles, which I may have today – not sure yet. Or I may wait until Sunday. We shall see. I also got an assortment of potato chips, small bags, just to have snacks in the house. And for my evening snack, some California roll. I came home and ate the California roll and a bag of chips – all good. Then there were more e-mails to answer and here we are.
But before I go any further, where the HELL has this month gone? We’re way past halfway – short month, and all. This month has flown by, like a gazelle doing the Transylvania Twist whilst consuming a Lime Rickey. I need a proper massage one of these fine days. That’s what they call a non-sequitur.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll do a little prep work for tonight’s rehearsal, I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully get some more book orders (I need to tag people on Facebook) – I sent out an eBlast yesterday to all my e-mail pals, only one of whom actually ordered the book. It never ceases to amaze me. I’ll mosey on over to the theater around six-fifteen, and then we have to conquer the musical number and hopefully the endless scene that precedes and follows it. If we get that fully done, I think there’s only a couple of other scenes in act one to do. After we’re done, I’ll come right home and relax.
Tomorrow, I’m hoping we’re doing a deep dive into act two – several really long scenes to do – some of it, like the opening, and scenes with our two leads, are already done, thankfully. Friday, I must gird my loins for the CAT scan – I just want it done and over with, then I’ll go have a nice meal somewhere, maybe even Genghis Cohen. Saturday is our longer rehearsal and I’ll just keep barreling through so that by next Tuesday we can start really working on stuff and smoothing everything out before I start assembling the show into a whole.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, do prep work, eat, hopefully get more book orders, I’ll have a rehearsal, and then I’ll relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear readers any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be back at it again.
