Well, dear readers, yesterday is done, see the pretty countryside – what am I, Stephen Sondheim all of a sudden? Just took a swig of Diet Coke and it went down the wrong way. Oh, how I hate when that happens. Now I am coughing like a lunatic eating guacamole with a closed fist. Have you ever eaten guacamole with a closed fist? It’s ever so much fun. We call it Angry Guacamole Eating. I just hate when things go down the wrong way, but who wouldn’t. Maybe if I suck on a Ricola it will help. Hang on, Sloopy. There, I am now sucking on a Ricola. Sucking On a Ricola – that’s the title of my next novel. I wish I had some guacamole here so I could eat it with a closed fist, but we can’t have everything we want when we want it. But seriously, what if Irving Berlin had written these here notes. And it might go something like this.
With notes to be written,
Well, that’s why BK’s sittin’
Here like fish in the noonday sun.
And you know notes are holy
When they mention guacamole
Time to post these here notes when they’re done.
When notes start in roasting,
There’s gonna be some posting,
And we soon will be number one!
When the topic is herring
Then the posts will be quite daring
Time to post these here notes when they’re done.
When they’re done,
When they’re done,
Time to post these here notes when they’re done.
When BK is ranting,
You know there’s no recanting,
‘Cause he rants like a gatling gun.
When he has him a ME day,
Or when it’s someone’s B-day,
These here notes, short or long, with a song but no thong,
Time to post these here notes when they’re done.
That darn Irving. Where was I? Oh yes, Angry Guacamole Eating. I did manage to watch a motion picture last evening, entitled Hostile Witness, based on a play from the UK that was then brought to Broadway starring Ray Milland. It wasn’t a hit, but still had a little tour thanks to his star power – it played here in 1965 – not sure why I didn’t go see it. Then it was turned into this movie, not only starring Ray Milland, but directed by Ray Milland. He directed a handful of films, some better than others. This one’s the worst of the lot, I’m afraid. Cheap looking, with no visual sense at all, it just meanders along. On stage, it probably worked better – the movie doesn’t make it, even though the reveal is clever. He plays a successful barrister whose daughter is killed in a hit and run accident – when it’s discovered who the hitter was, the hitter is found dead and the barrister arrested and put on trial for murder. It’s not very well written but, as I said, onstage it probably played better. It’s free on Prime. MGM put out a horrible, cheap MOD DVD – and the cover gives away the reveal. Brilliant.
Prior to that, I got about six and a half hours of sleep, had breakfast at Hugo’s, did banking, did a Macy’s return, had two nice telephonic conversations whilst driving, came home, did an Instacart order from Walmart, who was having a great sale on sodas, and also an Amazon Fresh for more Pepcid. That about sums it up.
Today, I’ll be up by nine-thirty at the latest, then I’m meeting our choreographer at eleven to go over everything, I’ll stop at the mail place and see what’s what, then I’ll relax until it’s time to go to our first rehearsal and meet and greet. After that, I’ll come home and watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is our second rehearsal, Thursday our two leads rehearse here in the home environment, then we have our first staging rehearsal on Saturday – just the two leads, doing as much of their solos and duets as possible.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by nine-thirty at the latest, have a meeting, relax, have a meet and greet and music rehearsal, then I’ll come home and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite Mexican foods to eat? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that Irving Berlin worked on today’s notes.
