Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much after midnight fish, trying to write these here notes in a hurry, so I’ll try to keep them short and sweet, like a light dessert after a big meal. I had the big meal, which is why I’m home late. After the show, a few of us went to the Coral Café. I hadn’t eaten anything all day, so I was very hungry – had a patty melt and fried – very good. Before that, we had a great performance for half a house. Disappointing we didn’t have more, but if you have to have half a house you want the audience we had. Solid laughs throughout the show, big cheers for the songs, partial standing O at the end and a lot of lovelier than lovely comments. There was one bit early in the show that’s never gotten the laugh I want it to. I’d tried it several different ways (it has to do with a doctor preparing to inject someone with a shot, but at the last-minute injecting himself instead. Last night, before the show, I told him to try it in his other arm, the one that can be seen more clearly. And? Voila, finally got a nice, big laugh. Can’t hide the comedy. I will not give up on a bit of business until I’ve made it work. The cast had great energy. Robert Yacko was with us as was the lovely and delightful Marsha Waterbury, formerly Marsha Skaggs. She did They’re Playing Our Song on Broadway with Victor Garber – they actually finished the Broadway run. And she starred in Smile. She really liked the show itself and the production, as did Robert. Both loved the cast but especially the two leads, Sydney DeMaria and Alec Reusch. I knew a few others in the audience, too. It was really fun to see the show after five days away. Prior to all that, I got ten hours of good sleep. Once up, I answered lots of e-mails and a few texts, one of which was irritating. I knew I wasn’t going to eat – no time to even snack, due to the late hour in which I awoke. I listened to no music, and only watched a couple of irritating YouTube videos. Then I shaved and showered, then moseyed on over to the mail place – hadn’t been in a week and would you like to know what I picked up? Not one single thing, not even junk mail. Go know. And now, I’m listening to first symphony of Carl Nielsen – very attractive and nothing like the last one I listened to, which was his sixth and final symphony, which I did enjoy but which is a bit odd.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll try to rustle up some people for tonight’s show with half-price tickets, then I’ll relax and have a snack until it’s time to mosey on over to the theater. We’ll see if anyone wants to go somewhere after – but I think we’ll try something other than the Coral.
Tomorrow is our matinee, which is sold out and we’ll have another talkback afterwards. I always look forward to those. Monday, I’ll be on the lookout for two important envelopes, and I’ll start figuring out dates for the next two Kritzerland shows, one in May, one in June, then we’ll come back in August with the young people show. We’ll also do a fifteenth anniversary show in September, and a holiday show in December.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, rustle up some folks for tonight’s show, then I’ll relax, have a snack, then I’ll go to the theater, see our show, and go out after. Today’s topic of discussion: If you are in need of a short and sweet treat, what is your go-to and what other things would satisfy Ye Olde Sweete Toothe? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a great show and happy to keep these here notes short and sweet.
