Well, dear readers, I will say this about that – our leading lady powered through last night’s show with flying colors. I don’t think a single person knew she was sick. I could hear it only because I’ve been working with her since February, but she got through everything, got all her laughs, got through the songs, including the money note at the end of I Like Him and I was so proud of her. She left right after the show to go home and take her preventatives and go to sleep. I hope she sleeps in and does nothing but relax, but I’m hoping last night gave her some confidence. My biggest note all day yesterday in our e-mail exchange was – stay positive. And boy did she. I would work with this gal anytime anywhere. It didn’t hurt that we had the BEST audience we’ve had – not sold out, but the fifty-five who were there were laughing loudly through every single minute of the show, cheering for the songs, and giving hefty mitts at the curtain call. Everyone else in the cast was on fire – great performances from every single person on that stage. And so, two more to go. After the show, lots of people stopped to tell me how much they’d loved the show, which was lovely. I was not in the mood to go out, so I came home and ordered clam chowder and a small Caesar from BJ’s – have to get that awful chowder from Smokehouse out of my taste buds and I think I have to let Smokehouse know how bad it was. Food just arrived so I shall return after eating it. Talk amongst yourselves. Soup finished – excellent. Where the HELL was I? Oh yes, more notes. Prior to everything, I got to sleep very late but did manage to get eight hours of sleep, arising at noon-thirty. Many e-mails to answer and then I ordered clam chowder and a shrimp cocktail from the Smokehouse. Clam chowder was grotesque and went into the trash, but the shrimp cocktail was great. Don’t know what the deal was with the clam chowder – runny, foul-tasting – I will indeed let them know about it. Then I just relaxed until it was time to shave and shower. Once that was done, I moseyed on over to the theater. Then we did our show and the rest you know. Oh, and I got the good news that we’re definitely on for the bonus production of the play I’ve been mentoring – we’ll either open in January, which I prefer, or very early in February. I’m looking forward to it and already thinking about the visual look for it. I can also now talk to the person who I hope will be making us tracks for the show. Normally, I would not want tracks, but for the conceit of the songs in this show, they’ll work perfectly. I like being busy with a project at the end of the year, which is when we’d go into rehearsals.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll relax, shave and shower, stop at the mail place to see what’s what, and then mosey on over to the theater. I’ll see who I know, and if it’s no one, then I’ll decide whether to stay or go. Since there’s only two left, I’ll probably stay, maybe even go out after.
Tomorrow is our last performance – we’re completely sold out with a waiting list, so that’s wonderful. At six-thirty there’s a cast party in the Bank of Bur. I’ll head on over there at that time, see how I feel and I’ll either have a bite there, or grab a couple of people and maybe go somewhere for a nice dinner and some more intimate conversation. Then next week, I want to finish casting the young people show so I can start choosing songs for it and the July show, which is now fully cast. I’m sure there’ll be meetings and meals, and lots of other stuff to catch up on.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, relax, shave and shower, stop at the mail place, mosey on over to the theater, and most likely see the show, then either go out after or not. Today’s topic of discussion: What type of clam chowder do you like best – Manhattan or New England. I’m strictly New England. And where did you have the absolute best clam chowder? For me, maybe in Boston, but I do love the Smokehouse when they do it correctly, which they mostly do. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had such a dream audience.
