HEALING HANDS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what a perfectly perfect day yesterday turned out to be. I was fearful that we’d have a poor turnout for the signing/reading of Rewind, but, much to my surprise and relief, we had a splendidly splendid turnout. In fact, it was such a splendid turnout that they ran out of chairs for people to sit in. I read several bits from the book, and the reaction from the crowd was really fun, both in terms of laughs, and even intakes of breath when something bad was happening. I read the entire first chapter (with the exception of two paragraphs that contained stuff that I didn’t want to read aloud), then read a long bit from the fourth chapter, and then two bits from chapters in other first-person voices – that was really fun. Books were sold (even Writer’s Block sold a copy), books were signed, cake was eaten (the guests decimated the cake – there was nothing left), and I had lovely chats with several people. Both of my LACC assistants showed up – the beautiful Guebri (who assisted me on Kevin’s show) came with her two beautiful boys, Kelly and Talon, and the beautiful Svetlana came with a friend. Also, one of my cast members from LACC, along with film composer John Scott and three of his family members, our very own Pogue, cousin Dee Dee (and her dog Casey – Casey is a big fan of my readings), Mr. Kevin Spirtas, Tammy Minoff’s mum Susan, our very own Mr. Donald Feltham, and a bunch of people who just showed up because they thought it sounded interesting. It was, in fact, the best turnout for any signing I’ve done in LA.

After the signing, I came home and rehearsed a number for the LACC benefit, this one featuring myself and Annette Cardona and recent alum, Candice Nicole. I hadn’t sung the number in over thirty years, but it was just like riding a bicycle – it all came back to me instantly, including the harmony. I’m lucky because all my sung lines follow Annette’s sung lines, and hers are all set-ups to mine – so re-learning it was a piece of cake. After that, I supped with the Pogues and Scarlet Street’s Richard Valley and Tom Amorosi. We went to Musso and Frank, and the food was splendidly splendid, as was the company. The only problem was our waiter’s slight inability to understand what any of us were telling him. I then came back to the home environment, caught up on the posts (just what up was doing on the posts is anyone’s guess), and jumped right into these here notes. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

It was like summer here yesterday – gorgeous blue skies, really warm, and just a completely sweet day. No DVD viewing, but I’ll do a little of that today.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below before I tell the story of The Randy Vicar and the Golf Balls.

Today, I shall be doing nothing but sitting on my couch like so much fish, perhaps taking a brisk walk, and trying to catch up on some DVD watching. I’m sure I’ll have to do a little e-mailing and such, but I’m keeping it to a minimum. “Minimum” – that’s quite an interesting word, isn’t it? If this were an Austin Powers movie, that would be the mother of Mini Me.

I am so in need of healing hands on my tired and achy body, and yet, I shall not be getting any healing hands for a while. If there are any healing hands that would like to rub my weary shoulders and my tired feet, I would be more than happy to have said healing hands do so. I tell you, I need healing hands – healing hands are the ticket, which is interesting because frankly I thought healing hands were healing hands, and I, for some strange reason, thought the ticket was the ticket. I no longer have a clew as to what the HELL I’m going on about. Perhaps if there were some healing hands healing my grotesquely sore neck and back, then I’d know what the HELL I’m going on about. But, noooo, there are no healing hands in sight. Damn them, damn them all to hell.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do as little as possible, I must sit on my couch like so much fish, I must proof the press release for our play, so that I can get any changes or fixes to our press guy first thing on Monday, I must eat a small amount of food so that I can lose as much weight as humanly possible in the next two weeks, and I must think about healing hands massaging the horrendously horrendous aches and pains of my personal body. Today’s topic of discussion: If you could take our haineshisway.com Time Machine and be present at any major historical event, what would it be and why would you want to be there? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and if anyone knows of any healing hands in the Studio City area, please have them sent over immediately.
